15 Killer Tips To Crack SSB Interview

3
Lt Colonel Sophia Qureshi 4

Aspirants, how many of you are going to clear SSB and join the forces? I am sure all of you! So what about doing some preparations. Tighten your seat belts and get ready to get the 15 Killer tips which will come handy for you to clear the SSB interview in order to pave way for you to become future officers in the armed forces:

To crack the AFSB and SSB interview, we recommend you to get “Let’s Crack SSB Interview” book from Amazon.

  1. Get that killer confidence: Confidence is an important part of an effective personality. If you are a confident person you’ll be able to present yourself in an impressive way in front of others, also you’ll be able to project the better things of your personality in an effective manner. Confidence is important from SSB point of view as well. It helps you to perform well. Why else do you think many of us are not able to speak well in the GD or interview? So tell yourself everyday that yes you are the best and you are going to make it, anyhow!

  2. You can’t know the world better until you know yourself: Self-introspection is very important if you want to get through SSB. So introspect yourself, find out your strengths and weaknesses, then work on your strengths to enhance them and on your weakness to diminish them. The person who knows you the best is yourself, so use this to your advantage and find out your abilities.
  3. Have a look around: In SSB’s you’ll be asked a lot questions related to your family, friends and closed ones. So it is better to go prepared. The questions will range from their occupation to what do they like/ dislike in you, what you like/dislike in them etc. Hence you are advised to have a look around yourself and be prepared for such questions.
  4. Presentation is the secret my friend: You might be having ample amount of knowledge but it is of no use until you know the way to present it. To be able to present something in an orderly way you must practice doing so. Now by practice I mean that try to write the points and practice answering the expected interview questions. In this way you’ll be prepared thoroughly to present your thoughts in the interview.
  5. Channelize your thoughts: By channelizing here I mean that give your thoughts a rights direction. You must be aware that the answers you are going to give or anything that you are going to say in the SSB must have adequate proof to prove it. So for this you need to think in a right direction. Keep on checking that whether the thing which you are thinking is correct, what all cross questions can be raised from them and can you answer/tackle those questions.
  6. Get set and Go: SSB is a test of five days, it involves long duration of testing. The days are going to be tiring and you’ll be asked to do a lot of physical exercises as well (individual obstacles, snake race) so for these thing you need stamina. Start going for a jog, or running in order to build stamina.
  7. North East West South: Yes! I am talking about the news. Knowing the current affairs and what is going on in the national and international front will always keep you in an advantageous state, so spare some time to listen to the news or read the newspaper.
  8. Get a good essay book: A good essay book will help you to build knowledge about different subjects. Now this knowledge will help you again in the GD and in the lecture in the GT Series.
  9. Speak like a gentleman/lady: The way you speak tells volumes about you. Anybody who can communicate well his/her thoughts will definitely cast a better impression. Speak slow, in proper tone, give pauses while you speak, speak calmly and not in a haste. In this way you’ll develop a wonderful speaking style, so again it’ll help you to communicate your thoughts well to others, in GD, interview etc.
  10. Time yourself: The psychological testing the SSB is a time based test, there are many sample SRT, WAT and TAT present on our website. Download them and time your responses.
  11. The forces work on planning: Military planning or group planning is a very important exercise. It checks not only your basic intelligence but also your ability to deploy proper resources, and your ability to judge the importance and priority of any situation. The whole system of forces works on planning, nothing in the forces is done in an unplanned or haste manner. So be very logical and intelligent in the GPE.
  12. Practice reasoning: The officers Intelligence and Rating test in SSB is held in the screening part. You need to score well in it to get into stage two of the testing. While in some SSB OIR is a cakewalk, in a few like in Selection Centre Central, Bhopal, it is a bit tricky and difficult. It’ll be beneficial to go prepared for this test. You can check the details regarding this test on our website.
  13. Be friendly and Smile: Be friendly with the group mates. A good repo with your group will be helpful to you in the group tasks, since GT series is the longest exercise and you have to do it with your group, it is important that you guys gel well. Good co-operation in a group leads to more number of selections, never forget this!
  14. You are not a rebel: You are going in the SSB to get selected, and not become a rebel. Why I am saying this is because I have seen many candidates giving stupid suggestions and speaking illogical things in the conference when asked for suggestions. You are assigned to somebody who constantly asks your problem every day, you are even asked to write suggestions in the mess register, then what is the need to go and say that quality of food needs to be improved in the conference. You are going to join the forces, that is the purpose you are going for, never forget it. Moreover always remember that if you give any suggestion in the conference, there are 15 officers sitting to answer it, read again, 15 officers!
  15. Never forget your purpose: The reason why you want to join the forces, never forget it. Never forget the purpose you have gone in the SSB with, i.e. to get selected. Take care of yourself, perform well, eat and sleep on time, bound them to take you in!

10 Things a Defence Aspirant must learn from Narendra Modi

3

India has democratically chosen her 14th Prime Minister. 16th May marked the end of the 16th Lok Sabha election of the largest democracy of the world. Now Mr. Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister of India. The defence aspirants who are above 18 years would have also voted. Irrespective of the choice you made and irrespective of the party you voted for, Mr. Narendra Modi is definitely a person who can be looked up for inspiration. So here I am penning down 10 things which a defence aspirant must learn from Narendra Modi.

10 Things a Defence Aspirant must learn from Narendra Modi

  • Hard work and dedication: Our new PM has set a record of travelling the most and doing most number of rallies in this election. Clearly this is an example of sheer hard work. Hence hard work is the biggest thing which we can learn from Narendra Modi. Of course no-one can work hard as long as he/she is totally dedicated for the work he/she is going to do. SO hard work and dedication go hand in hand. Hence you can learn to work hard with full dedication on your aim.
    Narendra+Modi+Security
  • Enthusiasm: The enthusiasm with which Narendra Modi does his work is commendable. He remains cheerful and enthusiastic throughout the day, no matter how tiring the day is. SO our aspirants can take a lesson from here that no matter how tiring the day becomes, remain enthusiastic.
  • Zeal for fitness: Narendra Modi never misses his yoga in the morning, irrespective of the busy schedule. So a lesson to take here is his zeal for fitness. You should never avoid your fitness regime, try to take out time to do something to stay fit and healthy.
  • Confidence: Nobody will disagree that Mr. Modi is a man of high confidence. There has been instance where he was attacked from all sides with a lot of accusations, which is common for politics, but his confidence made him win the battle. Confidence is the key to an effective personality.
  • Effective Speaking skill: A good politician is never made without effective speaking skill. Same applies for everybody’s personality. If you have a good speaking skill and can reach and communicate your thoughts to the front person, then half the battle is won. So one more thing which you can learn from Mr. Modi is his ability of effective speaking.

  • Fearlessness: In spite of getting threats, and many other issues, Mr. Modi has remained fearless all the time. It is quite evident in the way he speaks that he is a fearless person. A defence aspirant needs to be fearless, he/she should have the ability to take risk and perform. So here is again a thing you can learn from him.
  • Leadership: Undoubtedly Mr. Modi is an able leader. He was chosen as a prime ministerial candidate because of his able leadership. He doesn’t only command orders; in fact he himself performs also. An able leader leads by the example of his work.
  • Respect and love for the work you do: He as a chief minister has done notable work for Gujrat. He loves what his does. So another thing you can learn from him is the passion and respect he has for his work. If you have the passion for the work you do, you’ll definitely succeed.
  • Willpower: Rising for a humble background, Mr. Modi has proved evidently that if you are determined and have a strong will power then nothing is out of reach. So just aim high and have the will to turn your dreams into realities.
  • Humbleness: In spite of being so loved by the ‘janta’ and everybody in his party Mr.Modi is a humble man. Humbleness is something which always makes you admirable, so here is one another thing which you can learn from our new PM.

Everyone here has a dream of joining the most prestigious service of the country by becoming an officer, and everyone wants to make his dream come true. After all, nothing is more fulfilling than achieving a personal goal that you have set for yourself. Whether your aspirations are humble or monumental, achieving your dreams is the best route to happiness and satisfaction. Here, we came up again with one more interview of another recommended candidate to help our readers to know more about ssb interview. We got an opportunity to interview Miss Supriya Kumari who has cleared SSB Interview at 4 AFSB Varanasi. We thank her for sharing her experience with us.

1. First of all heartiest congratulations on clearing SSB.
Supriya:  Thank you so much. 🙂
2. It was your first SSB experience and you got recommended in first attempt, how does it feel?
Supriya: Well feeling after getting closer to something which I always aspired for, is    ineffable.  It’s like dream coming true 🙂
3. How was your SSB experience in total?
Supriya: It was full of excitement all the way. In my room Mig-29 there were 8 girls including me and all were so nice and friendly so in short enjoyed a lot, went on outing, and did pagalpanti. Memorable time it was! 🙂
4. What do you think, is the most difficult part of SSB process?
Supriya:  As per my experience, no testing is difficult but it’s not that easy either as they are assessing real you in different ways.  Whether it’s psycho, GTO or interview, it’s all about being true and being you. If you are thinking in the right and positive way you will never find difficulty anywhere.
5. What motivated you to join Indian Air force?

Supriya: Since I am an army brat so I was always influenced and attracted towards defense services no matter whether it is army, airforce or navy (same answer I gave in interview). The honor, pride, brotherhood we find in defense service is incomparable. And top of all my parent’s dream of seeing me in the uniform always motivated me .:D

In Conversation with Supriya Kumari, Recommended For IAF

6. How did you prepare for AFCAT and AFSB?
Supriya: I started my preparation very late. Since AFSB is totally based on a person’s psychology so my main emphasis was on enhancing my personality traits. So I think self introspection helped me a lot. Apart from that, I worked on general awareness.
7 .Do you think SSB coaching helps aspirants to clear SSB? Did you take any coaching for this?
Supriya: I won’t make any general view about this. If your psychology is good then opting for training is not compulsory. But even then if you want to have detailed knowledge about ssb process then undergoing training is a good choice. Yes, I joined not coaching but a training Institute (training enhances personality while coaching makes you cram) and it helped me a lot 🙂
8. What message would you like to give to fresher for SSB interview?
Supriya:  For fresher, I would suggest just go with clear thoughts, be cooperative, never dominate (very important part of testing), be a good person and you will definitely make it.
9. Thank you so much for speaking with us and all the best for the medical and merit list.
Supriya: Thanks for your best wishes. Hoping for the best 🙂

Where Does Indian Army Stand?

1
What Does Indian Army Stand

Indian Army has fought a number of limited wars, it lost some of them but mostly of them it won. It faces a range of threats, including terrorism and a persistent Maoist insurgency, but Indian Army always proves that the regimental colors its Jawans carry are still a matter of honor. In spite of this, what question arises is where does our prestigious Indian army stand in the world?

The Indian Army is the land force of the Armed Forces of India and has the prime responsibility of conducting land-based warfare. It is indeed a well-trained and well-equipped military service, with troop strength of over a million but how powerful a country’s army is, does not solely depend on the number of soldiers, airmen, sailors, and weapons. A country that has greater number in weapons or army manpower does not necessarily mean it has a powerful army, but how modern is the inventory of weapons and their firepower is matters more. Two big factors are the amount and how powerful are the country’s nuclear weapons. Another important factor are the updates, and future procurement plans of the countries. How much and how fast can they deliver the war resources to the battlefield is also an important factor to consider.

10 Activities You Must Start After Getting SSB Call Letter

3
flaws-in-ssb-interview

One obvious question in every aspirant’s mind is how to prepare for SSB? As soon as one gets a call letter for SSB, the happiness with numerous Ideas on how to prepare to blow the mind. Candidates purchase books, join coaching, borrow notes from friends and learn the information from these sources. They learn Psychological tests and answers to expected interview questions but in the end, the result contrasts with Expectations. The reason is that SSB is a personality assessment test and not a college exam, where you learn patterns and questions, write answers and you pass! You have to bring that change in personality and elevate it up to a standard as you see in today’s officers!

SSB Interview Preparation Material [ 100% Recommended]

Here are some activities that you must practice, and which contribute to the recommendation in SSB at large:

  1. TIME TABLE: – Make a time-table, where you bring in next mentioned qualities in daily schedule. This way you will make sure that you are giving time to each activity daily, will help in building a habit in 3-4 weeks, and will bring discipline in life. Don’t panic if it doesn’t work out for first week. Just keep practicing.
  2. NEWSPAPER READING :- If you are not in the habit, start with a Hindi newspaper for 10 days. Then switch to an easy English newspaper like “Hindustan times” or “The times of India”, whichever you like for next 20 days and finally “The Hindu.” Lay emphasize on national and international news. Read Editor’s page carefully. Note down the English words in a separate note book and once you are done, write synonyms-antonyms.
  3. PHYSICAL FITNESS: – Take out one hour daily to keep your body fit. Remember, the rate of medical rejection in SSB is 30%. And if you want those training days to go with ease, do half hour yogasan in morning and half hour exercise in evening.
  4. KNOWLEDGE :- You might have never seen this in OLQs but those who have been there know well that no Interview, and sometimes conference too goes without GK questions. There have been cases when GTO too asked GK questions. So, don’t ignore it. Manorama year book will do good. You can choose one random topic for daily. Questions are from current affairs, Geography (position of an ocean or a mountain),your subject questions, Who’s who, currency or capital of countries etc.
  5. WATCH TV:- News watched on TV lasts in mind more than newspaper. Watch news, debate and talk shows, Loksabha and some entertainment shows of knowledge like on Discovery or Nat Geo.
  6. SPORTS:- After you are merit in, you are going to have bad time in academy evenings if you are not good at sports. Sports leave a good impression on assessors in SSB. Prepare at least 3 Sports. It will boost your stamina as well.
  7. REASONING :- OLQs of mind are most important at SSB. Different kind of logical reasoning questions like verbal, non verbal, Sudoku, and reasoning games will make brain work in multiple direction. It will get you screen in for sure. It Will help you in GTO tests as well and you will have an active and alert mind in overall SSB.
  8. ACT OLQs :- If you think you will be courageous, honest, expressive, and intelligent in SSB and you will be recommended, you are wrong!! Better bring all these qualities in daily life.. Think and act like an officer in daily routine activities and you don’t have to be fake there!!
  9. PRACTICE TESTS:– Now you are up for practicing all the tests. But remember, be honest. Understand the purpose of each test,Make your mind up for these qualities and then practice.
  10. BE POSITIVE:- Most important thing, while doing this all, and in all your efforts, be optimistic! Feel positive and keep practicing. You will feel confident and they will notice it there!

So instead of working on WATs, TATs etc, start working on your personality because once you are commissioned, you don’t have to teach men their word sentencing and story writing, but you have to certainly work and command them with personality and qualities that you are building today in yourself!!

All the best to all the aspirants for their upcoming SSBs.

Why National Defence Academy Is The Best Thing That Could Happen To You!!

2

National Defence Academy is the Best
Hello warriors! I know that you are an NDA aspirant or were an NDA aspirant, or want somebody you know to get into NDA that is why you have started reading this. So NDA as the title says could be the best thing that can happen to a 17-18 year old boy. Of course I don’t mean to criticize or comment on any other career aspiration or profession, but NDA is special in its own way. As they say, it makes men out of boys! I am not going to compare NDA to any other career aspiration but only strike on the good things you get if you are lucky enough to join the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla.

National Defence Academy is the Best First of all let us know what NDA is National Defence Academy or NDA is tri service academy of India, located in Khadakwasla, pune. It is a feeder institution for the Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy. It trains the boys to before they go for their pre-commissioning training in the respective academies of Army, Navy and Air Force. It is the first tri-service academy of the world and as they say they train ‘India’s Pride’, the future officers of the Armed Forces. Only the boys can join NDA, after they complete 10+2, for more details you can refer to the eligibility criteria of NDA exam, which is a written exam conducted by UPSC and followed by Service Selection Board Interview for the written qualified candidates.
So coming back to the core.

It is a dream for many to be a part of the armed forces and live a life of adventure, excitement and serve the motherland. For some it is a job, but trust me if you get into NDA or any academy for that matter of fact, it’ll not remain a job and turn into passion and your way of life. When a candidate joins NDA, he is placed in one of the 18 squadrons which become his home for the next three years. The Squadrons are named as Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hunter, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Panther, Quebec and Romeo. There are five battalions, No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 Battalions have four squadrons each while No. 5 has 2 squadrons. Each squadron has approximately 100 to 120 cadets drawn from senior as well as junior courses under training in the Academy. And then begins a life which changes and transforms the personality of the boys. After three years of training you get into the academy of your choice, i.e. either IMA, NA or AFA. There you get specialized training in the service of your choice.
