Ten Tips for AFSB Interview
- Make sure you have all the documents and the photocopies of every document as exactly mentioned on your call up letter. AFSB’s are very strictly particular about the documents and there have been many incidents when the candidates are routed back if any document which is not excusable is missing. So make sure you have everything, strictly according to the mentioned documents.
- Check up with your tickets if you have to travel a long distance and buses are not available. It is generally advisable to book one return ticket scheduled on the evening/night of the screening day and the other return ticket scheduled in the morning of the next day after conference or late night of the conference day. This is so because the conference generally gets over by the evening and if you are selected then the document filling part might take another 5-6 hours so it’s better to book the ticket for the next day or late night.
- Read the past one month current affairs to be sure to know at least five each of major national, international and sports news. In the interview you might be asked to tell the latest happenings in the world.
- Do read about the latest acquisition of the IAF, so you know the latest procurement and future procurement of the IAF.
- Take a formal shoe which you can use for your mess and other purposes. Slippers are not allowed beyond your room so you need to have something appropriate to wear for the mess. Same applies to the clothing items. You need to have decent formal/semi-formal clothes to wear in the premises of AFSB.
- There is no need to carry any bedding with you. It is seen especially with the freshers that they carry bedding items also. All your lodging/fooding/bedding needs are taken care of by the board.
- Don’t carry too many clothes because you’ll not get a chance to wear your casual clothes much. An ideal case will be to carry at least three sets of formal clothes (or two trouser, three shirt or three salwar kurta for ladies) , two sets of GTO clothes and one/two set of casuals. It’s also advised to take shoe polish and brush along with you. In case you carry less clothing items you can always use the laundry facility and reuse them.
- Make sure you have your admit card of AFCAT. This is very much important.
- Take you extracurricular and sports certificates also along with you, neatly arranged in a folder.
- Be prepared to deposit you phone and say goodbye to it for a week, because unlike a few SSB of Army or Navy, in any AFSB phones are not allowed to be kept even in the main luggage. Once you get screened in you have to deposit it, unless you want to mess with them! Goodluck!
