Preparation Of A Lecturette

12
ssb interview lecturette

An officer of the Armed Forces has to lead or command his men. He is called upon to address at short notice the men he commands and he must be able to inspire confidence in his men-not only by his action but by his word also. His speech must, therefore, be forceful and effective.

ssb interview lecturette

In preparing your lecturette, you have to collect your material from various sources as under:

  1. Note down all ideas about the subject as they occur to you.
  2. Consult reference books, journals, newspapers and take down any new points not covered already.
  3. Discuss the subjects with your colleagues and note down any new points not covered already.
  4. Go through all the above material and select materials of your liking which can fit in the framework of your talk.
  5. Arrange the material selected in a logical order.
  6. Prepare a final draft of your speech.
  7. Divide your speech in three parts as under:
    • Introduction: It is to establish contact with the audience, to arouse their interest so that they get ready for what is going to come by disclosing and clarifying your subject and stating why the subject is important for them. Remember the maxim ” Well begun is half done”.
    • The body: This is the most important part as it carries the main message. Make it as interesting as possible. A dull treatment looses its effectiveness. A touch of humour may be helpful.
    • Summary and conclusion: A summary serves to wrap up the material you have presented. It is not only helpful at the end, but is useful in the beginning and at the end of each phase of your talk.
  8. Rehearse your lecture and limit it to the time allotted.
Lecturette isn’t hard if you go with some preparation, topics in lecturette are very common and general, always choose a convenient topic and prepare well in the given time.

Tips for Military Planning or Group Planning Exercise

2
military planning exercise
This is an indoor test employed by the GTO to test the planning ability of the candidates. Besides the tactical, administrative and organisational ability of the candidates, their mental alertness, i.e. their power of understanding a problem quickly, finding out its correct solution and then expressing it correctly, and forcefully will come into play.

It is a group task and not an individual task. Therefore, the candidate’s power of working in a team or group and a spirit of give and take is also put to test. Other qualities which are tested are reasoning ability and power of convincing with his arguments.

Instruction for candidates on tackling a military planning exercise or group planning exercise [GPE]

  • Read the printed instructions carefully and not carefully the minutest details.
  • Make sure that you have correctly understood the requirement of the problem. If you have any doubts, have these clarified from the GTO.
  • When the solution is being discussed give your solution with confidence and express it with clarity.
  • When another candidate is giving his solution, listen to him patiently and speak only when you have really some more rational and constructive suggestions to make. Do not interrupt merely for the sake of speaking.

IT, EEE etc Are Now Eligible For Indian Army Technical Entry

36
IT EEE in Indian army technical entry

Recently Indian army has done some changes in the eligibility criteria for technical entries like TGC and SSC-tech. Though these changes are not declared openly anywhere, but you can see these changes in the call up letter received  for SSC-40 technical.

Branches included for Indian army Technical Entries:

  • Information technology: IT was excluded from tech entries long back, lot of candidates have had suffered from this decision of Indian army, only because army considered CS for technical entries but not IT. IT branch is equivalent to Computer science, this is considered by Indian army now which makes them eligible for technical entries.
  • Electrical and Electronics: EEE students were exclude from TGC-117 onward  though they are eligible for SSC-40 tech because EEE is notified in the SSC-40 tech notification. But now army is considering EEE as equivalent to Electrical Engineering, this makes them eligible for TGC-117.
  • Instrumentation and Control: This branch is considered equivalent to Electronics and Instrumentation.
  • Other Branches: If your branch is not included but the other equivalent branch is notified, you can go with equivalency certificate of your stream to the notified stream from the AICTE. This will make you eligible.
Indian army included IT and EEE for technical entry
All the above is mentioned in the common call letter by SSB Bhopal, but candidates are suggested to check this from army headquarter before assuming any thing.

Joinindianarmy.nic.in Pain For Indian Army Aspirants

44

Note: This article was written in 2012, since then, some changes have been made in the official website but still it encounters glitches now and then.

If you have ever visited joinindianarmy.nic.in website which is an official career website of the Indian army, then I can understand your frustration in finding correct lists or information over there, you might be habitual to poor design and usability of joinindianarmy.nic.in the website but there is a limit of being careless that to when it is related to a big organization and many defence aspirants. This post will show you the heights of carelessness shown in joinindianarmy.nic.in website.

Before you say it is not a matter of deep concern, I will tell you why a good career website is important for any organization.
  1. Your website design reflects your professionalism.
  2. It helps your visitors to access information easily and apply for the recruitment.
  3. When you have huge visitors, your responsibility increases to provide them easy access to information.
  4.  At last when you have spent money on something, you care for it.

Why Joinindianarmy.nic.in is the worst career website.

1. Not at all intuitive, there are no latest news and alert section. One has to struggle to get information from this website.

2. Gross mistakes, clear signs of negligence, and carelessness. This website looks totally a fake website, if you browse through it, you may find tons of dead links and dummy pages.

Here are some masterpiece examples:

Joinindianarmy.nic.in001
Joinindianarmy.nic.in002
Joinindianarmy.nic.in003
Joinindianarmy.nic.in004
Joinindianarmy.nic.in005
Joinindianarmy.nic.in007

3. Sometimes they upload the ssb interview lists in the wrong section, many times they interchange lists between men and women. Does anyone care about this? and moreover who upload these lists, private coy or army itself. If it is a private coy then just imagine the amount of delay it may cause.
You may know that this website is powered by PECS [planetecomsolutions.com], it is a private firm and there is no doubt that they charge handsome amount to maintain joinindianarmy.nic.in. But as you can see the condition of this website. This is not the first time I am finding someone who is struggling with this website, many aspirants get confused about their ssb dates and other information and they ask it here.
Untitled

4. Now the question is who fault is this, in my opinion it is Indian army fault, they are not serious about their own website. If they ask PECS for better design then definitely they will make it better, when you pay money for something than you must take care of it. Daily thousands of visitors visit joinindianarmy.nic.in, it increases the responsibility, they must provide a nice platform to defence aspirants.
I rather appreciate indianarmy.nic.in which is an Official Indian Army Web Portal, maintained & managed by the Indian Army. Site hosted by NIC. Though it is also not much intuitive but far better than joinindianarmy.nic.in.

5. Once you visit careerairforce.nic.in and nausena-bharti.nic.in, you will easily understand the level of defence career websites.

Have you checked:

6. I appreciate NIC/NICSI for making careerairforce.nic.in awesome, specially it helped and made AFCAT application a piece of cake. Also not to forget www.jabitsoft.com, for designing nausena-bharti.nic.in.

Nausena-bharti.nic.in was ranked 3rd by webanalytics.gov.in [NIC]

Note: National Informatics Centre (NIC) is a premier S & T institution of the Government of India, established in 1976, for providing e-Government / e- Governance Solutions adopting best practices, integrated services and global solutions in Government Sector.

Individual Obstacle Course At AFSB Mysore

Individual obstacle task ssb

In the SSB Group Task activities the most important and detrimental activity is the Individual obstacle course as it tests your abilities as a warrior. Getting prepared mentally is a key in tackling this course successfully. This article will throw light on the various hurdles in this course and the weight age given to each task.

Individual obstacle task ssb interview

The individual obstacle course at the Mysore AFSB are (the serial numbers correspond to the points given to each task):

1. Jumping over a slide: This is the 1 pointer task which is the simplest. You have to run on the slope of an inclined plane and jump across a line which is marked at approximately 4ft from the end of the plane.

Individual+obstacle+task+ssb1
2. High jump: It is a simple 4ft high jump. You can use free style for making the jump. There will be sand on the other side of the bar to avoid injury incase you happen to fall.

3. Walking a pole: Walking on a cylindrical pole of length approximately 6ft. The pole will be 5ft above the ground level. The pole is tricky because of the unevenness in it’s shape. Also if it has been walked across by another person before you then it becomes muddy and slippery.

4. Jumping platforms: This can be difficult if you are scared of heights but it is easily doable. You have to climb a platform of 12 ft and then take two jumps. The first jump is to the lower platform which will be at 8ft from the ground. The second one is to the ground.
Individual+obstacle+task+ssb2

5. Burma bridge: You need to walk between two ropes for a distance of 25 ft. The two ropes will be tied on poles at a height of 10 ft. The technique is to have firm hold of the top rope and sliding your feet on the lower rope to move. This obstacle starts shaking as you begin to move so maintain your body balance.

Individual+obstacle+task+ssb3

 6. Climbing the wall: Run up the slope of an inclined plane and climb over a wall of 8 ft. The difficulty in this task is that the thickness of the wall is only 2 cms. So you can’t pull yourselves up by thrusting your hands on top of the wall. The best way is to put your one foot on top of the wall and get yourself rolled over to the other side.

Individual+obstacle+task+ssb4

 7. Jumping through a tyre: Jump through a lorry tyre with your feet first. The tyre is hung from a post at a height of 5 ft. There will be a small loop in the rope which can be used to hold and and pull yourself up to get into the tyre. Many wouldn’t notice this loop which will make this task difficult.

Individual+obstacle+task+ssb5

 8. Tiger jump: You have to climb up a platform of 9ft and leap a distance of 4ft to catch a rope and get down by the rope. This is where most of them get their palm and fingers cut and bleed. It is important to catch the rope at chest level so that you don’t slide down and get yourself cut.

Individual+obstacle+task+ssb6

 9. Monkey crawl: You have to move on a wooden log of 25 ft in length hung from rope suspenders at 3 ft above the ground level. You can choose either to slide on the log or get underneath it and crawl with both your hands and feet. But since it is suspended from ropes, as soon as you climb on it the whole set up starts to swing from side to side. This gives a hard time balancing on it.

Individual+obstacle+task+ssb7

 10. Rope climbing: You have to climb up a vertical rope to touch the post at a height of approximately 15 to 20 ft. You should make sure that you also get down step by step so that you don’t cut your palm by sliding down.
