Recently Indian army has done some changes in the eligibility criteria for technical entries like TGC and SSC-tech. Though these changes are not declared openly anywhere, but you can see these changes in the call up letter received for SSC-40 technical.
Branches included for Indian army Technical Entries:
- Information technology: IT was excluded from tech entries long back, lot of candidates have had suffered from this decision of Indian army, only because army considered CS for technical entries but not IT. IT branch is equivalent to Computer science, this is considered by Indian army now which makes them eligible for technical entries.
- Electrical and Electronics: EEE students were exclude from TGC-117 onward though they are eligible for SSC-40 tech because EEE is notified in the SSC-40 tech notification. But now army is considering EEE as equivalent to Electrical Engineering, this makes them eligible for TGC-117.
- Instrumentation and Control: This branch is considered equivalent to Electronics and Instrumentation.
- Other Branches: If your branch is not included but the other equivalent branch is notified, you can go with equivalency certificate of your stream to the notified stream from the AICTE. This will make you eligible.
I am an Instrumentation & Control Engineering Graduate. I wanted to apply for TGC-132
But my branch is not listed there. Can i apply under Electricals and Electronics ?

What is your %age ?
sir my % is 62 till 6sem
Okay, so as per my knowledge, army is sending common call letter via mail to candidates having minimum 62%. The list contains names of candidates who have minimum 63%. You are eligible if you have received the call letter.
All the best.
but where to get a equivalency certificate from AICTE,..Should I go to Delhi for that?,.admin can you please tell the procedure
It was a heart break for few students when the SSB Bhopal officials have mentioned that Computer Engineering students are not equivalent to Computer Science Engineering.EVEN it was a disaster for the final year students who appeared for SSC tech 40 course SSB,.The Delhi authorities are pretty poor in their work,.they send call letters for each and every individual, there were 63 people in my SSB batch who were shown the door out including me after document verification.I hope that thing doesn’t take place again.
bro i m the also one who had faced this disaster…………
I guess the absentee batch is still on, why don’t you guys try to get equivalent certificate asap.
How and from where we get equivalent certificate
AS per my knowledge you need to get a letter from AICTE that your degree is equivalent to the other ,.that’s what the SSB authorities told the Computer Engineering students
Is there any percentage criteria for the IT stream? I have first class in my engineering. M I elgible for IT tech entry.
%age criteria is for all branches, which is around 62%, to make sure this, do check your call letter.
Sir what about the cut-off percentage?
Is cutoff applicable for TGC 117?
great news.. m really happy to see this..wat a surprise for new year 🙂
thanks admin for your all efforts to keep our spirits high till this moment. lets hope for quick actions on this by army.
AL HAMDU LILLAH..
where i can find equivalence certificate for electrical to electrical n electronics plz reply asap (btech )
THERE IS NO NEED TO PRODUCE EQUIVALENCE CERTIFICATE FOR IT OR EEE BRANCHES THEY BOTH ARE APPROVED BY AICET BY ORDER OF HIGH COURT
This is a really good news for all IT Engg army aspirants…. unfortunately we have to wait for ssc41 or tgc 118 as the dates for applying are closed.. Admin i had applied for ssc40 under CS so can i get the call up letter?? from where can i find it?? i checked joinindianarmy site but all d lists are old…

how IT students can now apply for TGC 117 as applications are already closed ?
At present, this is applicable to SSC-40 tech, so technically this must be followed for TGC-117 as well.
unfortunately you can not apply now, but we also don’t know whether they will apply the same for TGC-117.
glad to hear this news . hope they will implement it as soon as possible :))
