Individual Obstacles For Women

1

Here there will be obstacles placed and a candidate is required to complete them in a given period of time individually. The level of individual obstacles for women is slightly lower than that given for men. Men’s are given three minutes for 10 obstacles roughly and women are required to complete 6 obstacles in a time of 4 minutes, this is because level of energy and stamina in men and women are different. You can repeat an obstacle after you complete all. Each obstacle is associated with points ranging from 1 to 10, most difficult one with maximum number of points (10).

Basically your self-confidence, physical fitness, stamina, courage, determination and speed of decisions are some major points amongst others to be checked. Hence you have to do it will full zeal and stamina. Generally the obstacles are placed one after the another in such a way that you can start with an obstacle you like and keep on attempting others and finally come back to the first one where you started.
Here is a list of some of the obstacles popularly given by SSB’s, you can get any six of them or similar kinds to do.
  1. Going over a balance beam called as single ramp.
  2. Long jump across a ditch of about 4-6 feet (generally covered with a barbed wire).
  3. Monkey crawling.
  4. Climbing a wall.
  5. Passing through a tire.
  6. Rope climbing.
  7. Tarzan Swing or Tarzan jump
  8. Balance walking over a zigzag beam.
  9. Walking over parallel ropes (Burma Bridge).
  10. Screen Jump (come running climb on the plank jump over the screen or red cloth without touching the screen).
  11. Commando walk.
  12. Tiger’s leap.

Tips for tackling Individual Obstacles

  1. Practice running & do some exercise before appearing for SSB.
  2. When the GTO is explaining listen very carefully and make a mental note of what you have to do or a plan of action.
  3. If you fail to tackle an obstacle in first attempt try it again after finishing other ones.
  4. Choose the correct sequence.
  5. Do not merely walk on the ground, run from one obstacle to other.
  6. Do not break rules or touch red portions.
  7. Remain composed while attempting high rise obstacles or one’s with jumping.
  8. Do not look at others or at the GTO while tackling obstacles concentrate and do your thing.
  9. Do not exceed your time.
  10. Do not give up in the middle.
You can tackle these obstacles easily if you are physically fit. Since balancing requires concentration hence you must attempt it in the beginning (this is my personal opinion however you can attempt in a way you like). Since Individual Obstacles are scoring thing hence you must try to put in your best efforts because these marks count in the final merit list. Don’t forget to test your shoes (sport shoes) which you have to wear in this task because you must be accustomed and habitual to the shoes in which you are going to run. The same applies to the dress you have to wear in this task.

Hope all of you are preparing for AFCAT 02 2013 written test which is going to be held in this month. We are surprised and happy to hear that, many candidate cleared their AFCAT written test earlier with the AFCAT preparation tips provided by us. We also look at the latest trend of AFCAT while giving preparation tip and surprisingly, AFCAT written test is getting tougher and tougher with time. Not only the written test but the intake is also getting less.

So, as you have decided to crack the AFACT 02 2013 written test, its our pleasure to help you with this. We took some time to analyse all AFCAT written test papers since 2011, yes we are keeping both eyes on AFCAT trends which is changing with each test, this helps us to provide you to give correct insight of AFCAT written exam.

How to Prepare Well for AFCAT 02/2013

When we say the AFCAT written exam is getting hard with time, we also believe that it becomes easy if you go with preparation. If you plan for the written test and practise just before 10 days, you can easily crack it ( We consider that you have at least average skills to pass it).

Before any test preparation, you must look out for various resources you can have, free as well as paid one. For AFCAT return test, you must look for:

  1. Previous AFCAT Question Papers
  2. Sample AFCAT Question Papers
  3. Best AFCAT preparation book
Now, you have all resources, lets decide how to plan the preparation. For that you must know what is the format of AFCAT question paper (which you can check from previous question papers). Now you can prioritize and decide what to prepare first and focus more.

How to Prepare Different Sections of AFCAT Written Exam

  1. General Awareness : Most of us may find it difficult because General Awareness preparation is endless and even with good preparation, sometimes you do not get questions from what you have prepared. But, if you can have a look on events happened six – seven months back, that would certainly help you to score good marks in General Awareness. But, again you do not need to spend more time in reading everything for GK. General Knowledge preparation is something which can not be done in short period of time, so if you are interested in improving your GK, you can start for it from now. Generally these questions do not take much time so you can start answering from this section. Also your mind will be fresh which can help you recall few answers. Or else, you must try this section at last after finish other sections.
  2. Verbal Ability in English : Difficulty level of this section is average, we would say it average because it is not easy, sometimes it is not average as well but more difficult. Indian Air Force has raised the standard of question papers and you will really find this section a hard nut to crack. But, aspirants those who have strong hold of English language, won’t be facing any difficulty as such. This section section do take some time but also need lot of concentration while reading the paragraphs and sentences. It is better to start of with this section early and do not keep it for last.
  3. Numerical Ability : This section is easy for you if you are good at Maths in general. Also, you know what type of questions you will be getting which makes your preparation easier. Aspirants who are strong in this section can start with it, but others who are not sure, may leave it for later and try to grab as much as marks they can from other sections. Because once you start doing this section, it will take your time and sometime when you don’t get the answer, it may reduce your confidence as well.
  4. Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test: This section is very easy, takes little concentration but can be done easily. It is better to have a look at few examples linked here. There are two types of questions comes under that which are from Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability. You can see sample questions here. It is better to attempt these question as soon as possible because with free mind you will get most of them correct.
Negative Marking in AFCAT: This is something you need to take care of, as you know the cut off for AFCAT remains near 150 or so. Then, plan accordingly and do not bluff because three wrong answers in AFCAT would cost your one correct answer.
Hope these little suggestions would help you to crack AFCAT 02 2013 written exam. Hope you guys share your experience and tips as well. If you have any suggestions, don’t forget to write them in the comment section below. All the best warriors.

5 Personality Traits Closely Observed By SSB And Ways To Develop It

3

SSB is a test to minutely observe a person’s qualities and based on their observations they decide whether a person has it in him/her or not. Here ‘It’ means personality characteristics. It’s very important to develop those characteristics if you feel that you do not have them, this is because everybody has qualities in them it’s just that some have them in abundance and thus are able to show easily and some are having a little of it and hence are shy.

But the thing is my friends that you can do anything you want if you practice it well, the saying “Practice makes a man (woman) perfect” is not said in vain. Here are a few qualities that need to be present in a ‘future officer’.

  1. Good Physique: Well most of you will say that it is given by God but tell me sincerely are you not impressed by a person who has a good physique instantly? Well by physique I don’t mean you have been all tall, good-looking and all, it just means that you should have a proper body weight and must be fit, if you are taking healthy food and exercising or playing  a sport everyday you’ll be naturally fit. So you’ll be naturally confident!
  2. Voice: Your voice should be impressive; I mean not very shrill not very heavy but commanding. You should sound like an officer. It is definitely not possible to change your voice but you can moderate a little bit if you like. If you sound very shrill then make sure while putting point your pitch is maintained to an extent which sounds okay.
  3. Leadership: Being a leader is not often something you can choose to be or not be. Each officer becomes a leader in the performance of helping people to solve problems and work through difficult situations. Leadership is something you can get by developing confidence. You should have confidence on yourself. You must learn to take initiative to start with begin with small things like taking part in school & college activities.cadets passing out
  4. Body Language: Your body language matter a lot. Even if you have a good personality it won’t help until you have a good body language. It means you must learn to walk firmly, sit upright, stand erect etc. You should never slouch or drop your shoulder while walking or sitting. Practice it in your daily life, walk firmly watch yourself in mirror while walking or sitting. If become habitual to have a good body language you’ll definitely make a mark.
  5. Zeal for Defense: You must have a zeal for defense services. This means you must love adventure, must be lively and ready to take part in any event. You can become lively by taking part in many activities in your institution or in your vicinity. You must play some sport to improve your personality because sports definitely enhances personality and induces discipline in life. Thus you must have a passion for defense which I am sure you’ll be having otherwise you were not be reading this article and visiting this website.
