TGC-118 Notification Indian Army 2013

Some of you might have noticed that Indian army is also considering PCM marks in TGC and SSC-tech, candidates with less than 70% in PCM were not able to apply online for TGC-117 earlier. This could be a benchmark in tech entries in future.

But the question regarding the TGC 117 cut off is still a mystery. TGC-117 cut off is 63%. TGC and SSC-tech entries do not have a fixed cut off percentage, you will not find the cut off for TGC or cut off for SSC-tech in the official advertisement. Questions and answers given below may solve your confusion regarding TGC-117.

IMA

1. Am I eligible for TGC and SSC-tech?

If you satisfy the eligibilty conditions like age, qualification, branch etc then you are elgible irrespective to your %age in BE/B.tech. But, it doesn’t mean that you are shortlisted for SSB, only shortlisted candidates [based on %age in BE/Btech] will be getting SSB calls.

2. I have more than cut off  %age, still I didn’t get my name on the list?

There can be many other reasons like branch not eligible, unsuccessful online submission, duplicate entry etc.
Also there can be multiple list as well, wait for more lists or contact Army directly.

3. Is my branch eligible ?

All branches which are mentioned in the official advertisement are eligible only.

4. I am still confused !!

Contact Indian Army directly.

  3. SUBJECT: Removal of Cut-off Criteria (read in full)
    Dear Friends,

I think the criteria of B.tech. percentage cut-off to select the aspirants to appear before SSB is not right.
The need to remove this cut-off criteria ( or to introduce a common test) is of Supreme Importance to us.
I appeal to all my friends to take this matter on high priority as IF NOT NOW, NEXT CHANCE WILL NEVER COME.

    we can do following things:

    1. Humbly request Recruiting Directorate by informing them about our concerns and zeal and josh to join Indian Army.
    2. In gentlemen way, we can further appeal to Defense Ministry to look into the matter ( as it a matter of thousands of genuine candidates aspiring to join Indian Defense Forces).
    3. We can also move the Supreme Court to suggest the introduction of common entrance exam for this.

We can discuss further our action plan regarding this. My email id is [email protected]

Expecting thoughtful and quick reply from you all.

    Thanks.

  4. Respected Sir,

    1. Please note down following points with regard to Technical entry in Indian Army.

    2. How the recruitment directorate can justify their decision of cut-off to select candidates to appear before SSB?

    3. There is no common standard of judging and marking in Indian Universities.

    4. Students are increasing there number by illegal means, see the news of B.tech and M.tech answer sheets scam in the government university MDU, Rohtak.

    5. Only reason is that SSB centers can not conduct SSB of all the aspirants because of limited administration and resources, but this is not democratically acceptable reason. In one sense it increase the partiality among the aspirants.

    6. Futher if no CUT-OFF will be there the indian army will get mix of officers which are good in various fields (sports , extra curricula etc).

Please reconsider your decisions on it

  5. Respected Sir,

Please look into the account of the genuine candidates who applied for the TGC-117 entry with all zeal and Josh to join Indian Army, but could not appear before SSB just because of the cut-off of 63% till 6th semester.

Sir, Indian Defense Forces are the only organisations which recruit free and fairly without any partiality.
( Every university has different judging and marking criteria, so a common entrance test like AFCAT may be introduced for technical entries).
Please remove the cut-off and allow all the candidates of appear before SSB.

Please take this matter on priority sir. Its a humble request of many many genuine candidates desirous of joining Indian Army.

    Expecting positive.

  6. You are right Brijesh.

For many of us coz of this Damn Cutoff dream of joining prestigious IMA has shattered.
This is very disheartening and kind of biased as well, As many officers in the ARMY don’t have that high %age but still they are the finest officers in the organisation and its just beacause their OLQ’s speak for them and not the %age.

I don’t understand why they have considered the %age till 6th sem by this I mean every organisation consider aggregate %age of all the 8 sem, aren’t they? Then why is ARMY trying to act different. If they want to cut down the huge unmanageable crowd then I think they should start an Entrance Exam on the lines of AFCAT and CDS rather than cutting the hands of an aspirant by keeping the cut off %age and making the aspirant handicapped in every sense. Let their be an equal oppertunity for all to prove and get shortlisted for the interview.

HQ must listen and act in favour of the aspirants dieing to join INDIAN defence forces….

@ Admin Please comment, seeking your suggestion , advise and support…

    • yes equal opportunity should be given to all the aspiring candidates… come on guys .. we need to fight for this.
we all can write to Director General of Recruiting. and request them to scrap cut off and keep entrance .

@ admin : we need your help and guidance in this matter .

WARRIORS SHOUT NOW ……………………….DO NOT GIVE UP .. YOUR APPEAL AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE ………………

  7. Dear Warriors,
we all must get together and appeal to headquarters , to remove cutoff . This cut off has ruined the dream of most of the aspirants .

IF ARMY IS REALLY THAT WORRIED ABOUT THE CROWD AND QUALITY OF CANDIDATES WE REQUEST ARMY HEAD QUARTER TO KEEP ENTRANCE ………

WE ALL NEED TO VOICE IT OTHER WISE .. WE WILL LOOSE IT FOREVER………………

@ ADMIN WE NEED YOUR ADVISE AND SUPPORT …………….

  8. Dear admin,
with all due respect , i would like to know on what basis … 63% cut off up to 6th sem was kept . As we all know that we have huge no. of different university’s and marking system varies. how can any one can even compare . As far as i know army doesn’t go by marks , the selection is purely based on his personal , psychological and physical fitness.

i have only one question if a candidate has below 63% that means he doesn’t have OLQ’s …………

kindly guide how we can remove this cut off , whom to write … this is a very serious issue ………..CAN WE FILE RTI.. plz plzz help

    • Hi Brijesh, I can understand what you said, but all organization has full rights to keep a cut off mark or a benchmark. The only reason here is to avoid the huge crowed which during TGC and SSC.

I don’t think there is any way of removing cut off, I have no idea whether or not RTI will work here but you can give a try,

    • Dear admin,
thank you so much for replying ..few more things i have to clear ..kindly guide me in this

1.i am a aspirant for Indian armed forces, specially for army my chances for navy and airforce is null since they ask for aggregate 60% and above and i have 55% aggregate (BE Mech) . only chance was army .

2.why there was no cutoff for TGC 116 but was there for SSC 40?
and now TGC 117 has also cut off , surprising ?

      3. why so far list is not displayed on army website but you ppl have it ? joinindianarmy.nic.in ( is the list is 100% correct , just wanted to confirm )

4.can we appeal to head quarters Recuitment to put entrance rather than cut off will solve all the purpose , best candidate and less crowd. ( HOW EVERY ONE UNITED TO GET I.T BRANCH AN ENTRY IN TGC AND SSC ., IN A SIMILAR WAY IF WE ALL REQUEST HQ TO CONDUCT ENTRANCE AND REMOVE CUTOFF) . JUST A THOUGHT

5.as a last resort i have only chance left with TA , which will be coming up in June 2013 , i am sure that i will make it . but the doubt is that ki ”IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET PERMANENT COMMISSION THROUGH TA” I MEAN INITIALLY WE JOIN TA , THEN AS ARMY ALWAYS OFFER CHOICE FOR YOUNG CANDIDATES TO JOIN AS PERMANENT COMMISSION PROVIDED YOU COME IN THE PROPER AGE AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA. “

JUST HELP ME BOSS IN CLEARING THESE DOUBTS …

      TRUE ASPIRANT FOR ARMY
      BRIJESH

  9. sir is it will be fruitfull to request directorate of recruitment to remove cutoff and to include test for tech entries .

will they listens to us or this affort will be just firing in dark .pls sir reply to this

  10. Respect Admin,
I thank the efforts put on by you for the betterment of defense aspirants. But sir your post add on confusion among most of them and many post are left unreplied by you like in the above post, tgc. please take a note.

    With warm regards,
    Sudheer

    • I don’t have any proof to explain this, but whatever is written over there is actually happened. I had one aspirant for whom I actually tried filling TGC-117 by myself, it never went through just because of PCM %age. I am not saying that less than 70% will not be getting call letter, see since long we are observing uncertainties in TGC and SSC-tech entries. Anything thing can happen in the future, cut off may go 80%, who knows ?? Just be prepared for the worst, but I hope everyone gets their call letter.

    • Sir, you may be right and let our respected recruiting director decide the cutoff. According to me publishing TGC or CDS results are coming soon and making the aspirants more eager; adds on confusions by reading the post stating am i eligible and all, so what I suggest is not to publish the post unless the dates are declared officially. Because I see this site as best site for defense preparation where people interact and gain ideas and instead i suggest to put on picture for PPDT, TAT; WAT; SRT; GPE; GD; lecturate. There are many materials regarding the same but if you add on it will be better.

    • Thanks for your concern I really appreciate your opinion, but in my opinion by posting those post before dates helps aspirants because it tells them that dates are not yet out and it will be published soon. More over candidates comments on those posts regarding the dates and get the replies from others. Sometimes dates do not come online but many others get their call letters at home before the dates are published online, which create lot of confusion.

I respect recruiting director, merely posting this won’t change any format of recruiting and more over whatever is written is just an opinion through the experience and not simply just for namesake.

Regarding the PCM thing which is creating doubt, if you have TGC-116 and TGC-117 application form, you can see PCM marks asked in TGC-117 form. This thing started with TGC-117. I am not sure about the upcoming entries but as written above this could happen in the future.

Apart from this, there are lot of things considered to run a blog successfully. I hope you understand this 🙂

  11. Sir, I am currently in my pre-final year of the graduation. I will be applying for cds but I am one day late according to the applicable age for ima, I would thus have to go for OTA, but as OTA offers only short service commission, I am totally dedicatd to my goal for being an army officer, Can they allow the relaxation in age for 2 days for joining IMA??
Please do reply as soon as possible.

  12. I have applied for TGC-117 in spite of being not having 70% marks in PCM..:) I think there is no rule for PCM marks 🙂 if it happens i could not fill my TGC-117 🙂

  13. I have applied for TGC-117 in spite of being not having 70% marks in PCM..:) I think there is no rule for PCM marks 🙂 if it happens i could not fill my TGC-117 🙂

  14. What are you saying admin….They only consider degree marks
    My pcm is 60%
    and Engineering aggregate is 67.5
But my name was there in tgc 116 as well as ssc 40.
