Your can read Part -1 here. Core aspects are such values and morals that might differ from place to place but are very core and unmovable objects that decide the character of the person. And you would be surprised to know that such elements are only being judged at SSB. Now the important questions are that when such things are not movable what do people who say that we will train you will change in a small span of time. Aspirants should remember that these aspects need time to change and hence they should start the process of preparation or I would call it introspection should begin well in time. I refuse few aspirants who ask for my mentorship when their SSB is just two week apart as this time is not sufficient to induce change, and mentoring such people mean it’s not justice with their personality.
Once guidance is given there should be some time when the aspirant should spend time with himself to reflect upon what needs to be done and implement changes slowly and suddenly. Once the change is implemented slowly the process of improvement is smooth and one gets the change permanently done. So guys feel happy that nothing is impossible, but yes this change needs time. Who stops people to start the process of change well in time and get the change permanent? But it seems human nature is difficult to change and once the motivation from the life is gone nothing could be done. Specially the repeaters who had given many times forget that they should change themselves a bit and then move with the new personality. That’s why it is suggested not to repeat SSB at a gap of small period because such changes if tried needs time.
Some aspects of personality like eating and drinking habits are easy to change but remember these aspects are not checked and they do not form the OLQ’s. So change is part of life and it should constantly happen but don’t forget to start early. At this junction I would also like to answer query raised by one of my mentee what all a person should do to introspect his/ her personality himself. Now remember the following:
- You are the best person who knows your personality. Spend some time daily with yourself to understand the changes that are taking place. Eg: actions which suddenly you did and was not the part of regular personality of yours.
- Try to look for solid reasons of why you reacted to the particular situation and was that expected.
- Once you understand that in SSB the competition is not in group but with yourself you will try to work in an ideal manner and that’s what is expected out of officers.
- Ideal here does not mean someone who always performs right deeds and is the best without any mistakes or weakness but he is one who commits his mistakes and promises to improve them.
Follow these simple tricks to innovate yourself. Still if you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for olq’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. It would be a pleasure to help and resolve queries and clear doubts which are more often myths that are present in the mind and that can severely degrade the performance.
