Fast Track Selection At Delhi

Indian Air Force will conduct Fast Track Selection (FTS) for Flying and Ground Duty Branch at Delhi on 14 Sep 2013; for short listing of Men and Women candidates for Flying Branch and GDOC/MAT as per the details mentioned below. Training of the finally selected candidates will commence in Jan 2014 at Air Force Academy, Hyderabad.

Fast Track Selection 2013 Eligibility

Flying Branch- Course No. 13 SSC (Men) and 42 SSC (Women)

  • Age: 19 to 23 years i.e. born between 02 Jan 1991 to 01 Jan 1995 (Both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 25 years i.e. Born between 02 Jan 1989 to 01 Jan 1995 (Both dates inclusive).
  • Educational Qualifications: Graduate (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline from a recognized University who have attained minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level OR BE/ B Tech degree (Four year course) from a recognised University with minimum 60 % marks in aggregate in all papers put together.

Ground Duty Branches -Course No. 135 GDOC PC, 28 SSC (Men) & 44 SSC (Women)

Meteorology Branch – Course No.135 GDOC PC, 28 SSC (Men) & 44 SSC (Women) 

  • Age : 20-25 Years as on 01 January 2014 i.e born in between 02 January 1989 to 01 January 1994. The upper age limit is relaxed upto 27 Years (i.e born in between 02 January 1987 to 01 January 1994) for candidates who have completed Ph D after completing following educational qualifications.
  • Educational Qualifications: Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream / Mathematics / Statistics / Geography / Computer Applications / Environmental Science / Applied Physics / Oceanography / Meteorology / Agricultural Meteorology / Ecology & Environment / Geo-physics / Environmental Biology with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level, with a minimum of 55% marks in both).

Fast Track Selection Interview Procedure

On the spot registration will take place between 0800 hours to 1100 hours on 14 Sep 2013 as per respective venue. No registration will take place after the specified time and candidates who fail to register their names on the day of registration will not be permitted to appear for selection procedure.

AFCAT: All eligible candidates other than Met Branch will undergo AFCAT at the venue. Result of AFCAT will be declared immediately after the test. All successful candidates will then undergo Phase- I Test (Picture Perception and Discussion Test) either on the same day or on subsequent day(s). All Phase-I qualified
candidates will undergo a detailed document check to ascertain eligibility and thereafter will be issued call letters for further testing at one of the Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs) at Dehradun, Mysore, Varanasi or Gandhinagar. AFCAT will not be conducted for Met Branch and candidate will undergo Phase-I
Testing after registration.

Documents Required for Fast Track Selection

  1. Two copies of pre-filled FTS Admit Card (on A4 size paper) as per format given in this advertisement.
  2. Original certificate and Mark sheet of class X th (as proof of date of birth) and of class XII th.
  3. Original certificate and mark sheets (all semesters/years) of Graduation.
  4. Proof of identity such as Passport, Driving Licence, Voter Identity Card, College Identity Card or any other valid photo identity proof.
  5. Three recent colour passport size photographs.

Important:

  1. SSB recommended candidates who do not feature in the selected merit list for Flying / GDOC Branches may be considered for other branches on case to case basis subject to vacancies and their meeting the eligibility criteria.
  2. Candidates who have failed in PABT at any earlier attempt are not eligible for Flying Branch.
  3. All candidates would need to submit original/ provisional certificates and mark sheets latest by 15 Dec 2013, failing which the candidature is liable to be cancelled.
  4. Airmen are not eligible to apply through FTS.
  5. Candidates appearing in FTS should not have any present backlog.
  6. Candidates appearing for Flying Branch only will be routed back without further testing, if failed in PABT.

What Is University Entry Scheme UES
Hello Warriors, this is my 1st article for ssbcrack, the best online portal for clearing your SSB (Services Selection Board). This site also helped me in my SSB but unfortunately I got Conference Out. Anyways, today I’m writing upon the UES (University Entry Scheme), specially focusing upon NAVY UES Entry as I got a chance to interact with the screening board of UES-Navy as they came to my college. So here I start my conversation with the head of the screening board.

What Is University Entry Scheme UES

Q: What is University Entry Scheme UES?

A: UES is an acronym which stands for University Entry Scheme. This is a scheme which Navy has started way back in 1950’s, it was only for the Engineering and Electrical Branch initially for the Electrical branch and later for engineering branches too. We have 5 main branches out of which Navy HQ conducts recruitment  for only for 4 Branches i.e.
  1. Executive Branch
  2. Education Branch
  3. Engineering Branch
  4. Electrical Branch

So this UES continued till about 1986 which we discontinued it and then later restarted in 2003 where we also brought in other branches under the ambit of UES. Primarily it gives an opportunity for those who are pursuing their studies to also opt for career in the NAVY as officers.

Q. How to do you select the candidates for UES SSB after they get scrutinized form the campus?

A. The selection procedure is as such, The screening board comes to the University and grades the candidates on a  4-Point scale, in which the candidates are graded
  1. A for Most Suitable
  2. B for Suitable
  3. C for an average
  4. D who are unsuitable and also the lowest grade in the system

out of which candidates falling in  A, B and C grades will get a chance to appear for the SSB, depending on the numbers of candidates in those grades. Then comes getting recommended in the SSB. If a candidates clear his SSB he is sent for his Medical Tests and on clearing that too, then a final merit list is prepared and depending on the vacancies they are called to join the respective training academies.

Q. Any criteria for a candidate to appear for UES?

A. As you know, this is a NON-UPSC entry so no written exam takes place, but we have another parameter for this which is the CGPA parameter. Then comes the stream, he should be pursuing particularly that stream which is required by the Navy, apart from that a minimum percentage of marks is required. In most B.E. and B.Tech. courses, the minimum percentage is 60% or a CGPA of 6 taking the multiplier as 10 and in the entry of Naval Architecture, a minimum CGPA of 6.75 is required.

Q. What do you look in a candidate to scrutinize him for the SSB or what are the OLQ’s you check in them?

A.  It’s a very difficult question to answer, there are certain characteristics which are definable and certain characteristics which are indefinable. Generally what we look on a whole is whether a candidate has the desired qualities which we look for in an officer in the Armed Forces. If he has then he has a very high probability to  clear the SSB and we grade him accordingly during the campus screening so that the success rate of recommendation at the SSB is greater. OLQ’s are basically personality traits of an individual, as the screening board is for the limited time in the campus so we do not go into extensive physiological tests which are being conducted at the SSB but it is a preliminary stage or you can say a Raw Filtration which is done.

Q. Where do the recommended candidate undergo training  and for what duration?

A. Training for each entry is different, however all the candidates who are selected through UES, their initial training is conducted at Indian Naval Academy which is in Ezhimala (KERELA). It is termed as Naval Orientation Course which maybe for a duration of 22 Weeks, and alternatively for the courses for longer Orientation Course the duration extends to 42 Weeks. So there are two separate Naval Orientation Course depending upon the type of entry.  And on completion of this, they will go for the specific professional  training in other schools.

Q. Which branches of engineering is given more preference for UES-Navy?

A. Generally, if you see it is Entry specific so for each job the requirement of the particular of discipline of engineering is different. However the branches which have more flexibility to wide ranges of entry, I would say it is Mechanical, IT, Electrical, CS.

Q. Any tips you would like to give to our defence aspirants?

A. Tips.! Yes, I would like to say that if you want to succeed and join the career of the Armed Forces then you have to succeed the SSB for which you have to do well in whatever education you are pursuing at that moment, secondly you have to keep yourself physically  fit and healthy, thirdly you should have a good command over the language and also you have to polish your speaking and communication skills and lastly you must lead a very highly moral life ethical life because that will affect your physiological make-up. So you should be mentally healthy as well.

Q. Sir, Do you think SSB Coaching plays a vital role in clearing the SSB?

A. No, I don’t think it plays a vital role, because it depends on how you take it. Let’s suppose you are taking the coaching to identify your weaknesses and thereafter to overcome them by treating them at a core level, then it is helpful otherwise if you are taking SSB coaching just to mask your actual nature then it won’t be helpful to you.

Q. It is said that there is a severe shortage of Officers in the Armed Forces, What is your view for it?

A. Yes, There is but it is being mitigated to a large extent and that however is the criteria to induct officers, because officers are inducted as per a certain pattern and qualities. So it doesn’t mean that we should start inducted anyone just to meet the shortage.

Q. Last but not least and the most important question that the wards of the defence personnel’s gets easily recommended in the SSB, Is it so?

A.  If you are asking as to whether any incentive is given to the wards of defence personnel, No.! There is no incentive given in the Officer’s Entry as such but for the Sailor’s entry, Yes! there are incentives given to the wards of defence personnel’s who have been Killed In Action. To summarize there is no such special incentives given certainly for the officers entry.

Written exam of CDS-2-2013 was conducted by UPSC on 08th Sep 2013. Candidates who have written CDSE 2 2103 must be waiting for CDS 2 2013 answer keys and cut off marks. Through CDS 2 2103 candidates will join the course commencing in July 2014 for admission to the Army, Air Force wings and  Navy. Course like IMA 137th Course, SSC 100th, 12th OTA,196th Flying Course and Naval Academy. CDSE paper consist of three different sections viz English, General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics and each section consist of 100 marks. CDSE is conducted by UPSC twice every year. When comparing CDS 2 2013 from last CDS 1 2013, it was comparatively easier.

English: Comprehension passage, sentence formation etc were easy this time and English section is going to be the source of maximum marks for all candidates. Though, synonym and antonym were difficult this time. Overall, English paper was quite easier this time and most of the candidates might score well in it. 


GK: GK was easier than last time, specially the questions from general science and civics, polity etc. But in totality, GK paper had the same standard like earlier. This section was the toughest of all and need lots of preparation to score well.  


Maths: Maths questions were easy, again a good chances for scoring high marks for the candidates applying for AFA and IMA. 


Overall the paper was good enough for the candidates who have done preparation beforehand. UPSC may declare the results of CDSE 2 2013 after four months. CDSE 2 2013 cut off may go up to 135 Marks for AFA, 120 marks for IMA,  95 for OTA and 105 for NA. Lets wait for the CDS 2 2013 answers key to come up from The Cavalier Coaching Institute for  CDS-2 answer sheet 2013 and CDS 2 2013 cut off.

How to Apply

  • Candidates are to submit application in ‘e-application’ (Online) for this entry.
  • The candidates desirous of applying online (e-application) can do so from 06 Aug 13.
  •  Click on the ‘Officer Entry’ button under the option ‘Apply Online’ on the Home Page.
  •  Fill the online registration form.
  • Before clicking the Submit button it should be checked whether all the details entered in the form is correct as you will not be able to make any corrections after saving the record.
  • After submitting the form, a ‘Application Number’ will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen.
  • This Application Number will automatically appear on the print out of the form.
  • Print two copies of the online Application Form having the system generated Application Number.

CDSE Maths Formulas Of Number System

  • Ten is called the base of our number system.
  • Set of Integers Z = {……-4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 …….}
  • Positive integers 1, 2, 3, 4, … are called natural numbers. Smallest natural number is 1 and there is no largest natural number. The set of natural numbers N is infinite.
  • All natural numbers together with zero are whole numbers. 0 is the smallest whole number. The set of whole numbers W is infinite.
  • Set of natural numbers is a subset of set of whole numbers, 0 being the exception
  • Even numbers are divisible by 2 and the set of even numbers E includes 0. E={0, 2, 4, 6, …}.
  • Odd numbers are not exactly divisible by 2. O = {1, 3, 5, 7….}
  • Prime numbers are natural numbers having exact two distinct factors i.e. 1 and the number itself (2, 3, 5, 7, 11…). 2 is the smallest prime number. 
  • Natural numbers having more than 2 factors are called composite number. E.g. 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, …
  • 1 is neither prime nor composite. All even numbers except 2 are composite.
  • Co-prime or relatively prime numbers are two natural numbers that may not be prime numbers and that have only 1 as common factor. E.g. 8 and 9, 15 and 16, 26 and 33.
  • Pairs of prime numbers which have only one composite number between them are called twin primes. E.g. 3,5; 5,7; 11,13
  • The numbers which can be expressed in the form of p/q, where p and q are integers and q is not 0, are called rational number. The set of rational numbers is denoted by Q.
  • A number which cannot be expressed as terminating nor a non-terminating repeating decimal is called an irrational number.
  • A pure recurring decimal is a decimal in which all the digits after the decimal point are repeated. Mixed recurring decimal is a decimal in which at least one digit after the decimal point is not repeated.
  • Short cut method for converting pure recurring decimal to a rational number.
  • Write the repeated digit or digits only once in the numerator and take as many nines in the denominator as there are repeating digits in the given number.
  • For example, 0.33333 = 3/9 = 1/3 or 0.387387387 = 387/999
  • Short cut method for converting mixed recurring decimal to a rational number
  • Form a fraction in which the numerator is the difference between the number formed by all the digits after the decimal point taking the repeating digits only once and that formed by the digits which are not repeated and the denominator is the number formed by as many nines as there are repeated digits followed by as many zeros as there are non-repeated digits. e.g. 0.74353535 = 7435-74 / 9900 = 7361/9900 or 0.1272727 = 127 ? 1/990 = 7/55
  • The sets of rational numbers and irrational numbers taken together are known as a set of real numbers. The absolute value of a real number |x| is defined as |x|= x, if x > 0 and |x|= -x, if x < 0

  1. Factors and Multiples: If number a divided another number b exactly, we say that a is a factor of b. In this case, b is called a multiple of a.
  2. Highest Common Factor (H.C.F.) or Greatest Common Measure (G.C.M.) or Greatest Common Divisor (G.C.D.): The H.C.F. of two or more than two numbers is the greatest number that divided each of them exactly.
    • There are two methods of finding the H.C.F. of a given set of numbers: 
      • Factorization Method: Express the each one of the given numbers as the product of prime factors. The product of least powers of common prime factors gives H.C.F.
      • Division Method: Suppose we have to find the H.C.F. of two given numbers, divide the larger by the smaller one. Now, divide the divisor by the remainder. Repeat the process of dividing the preceding number by the remainder last obtained till zero is obtained as remainder. The last divisor is required H.C.F.
      • Finding the H.C.F. of more than two numbers: Suppose we have to find the H.C.F. of three numbers, then, H.C.F. of [(H.C.F. of any two) and (the third number)] gives the H.C.F. of three given number.
      • Similarly, the H.C.F. of more than three numbers may be obtained.
  3. Least Common Multiple (L.C.M.): The least number which is exactly divisible by each one of the given numbers is called their L.C.M. There are two methods of finding the L.C.M. of a given set of numbers:
    • Factorization Method: Resolve each one of the given numbers into a product of prime factors. Then, L.C.M. is the product of highest powers of all the factors.
    • Division Method (short-cut): Arrange the given numbers in a rwo in any order. Divide by a number which divided exactly at least two of the given numbers and carry forward the numbers which are not divisible. Repeat the above process till no two of the numbers are divisible by the same number except 1. The product of the divisors and the undivided numbers is the required L.C.M. of the given numbers.
  4. Product of two numbers = Product of their H.C.F. and L.C.M.
  5. Co-primes: Two numbers are said to be co-primes if their H.C.F. is 1.
  6. H.C.F. and L.C.M. of Fractions:
    • H.C.F. =  H.C.F. of Numerators / L.C.M. of Denominators
    • L.C.M. = L.C.M. of Numerators / H.C.F. of Denominators
  7. H.C.F. and L.C.M. of Decimal Fractions:
    • In a given numbers, make the same number of decimal places by annexing zeros in some numbers, if necessary. Considering these numbers without decimal point, find H.C.F. or L.C.M. as the case may be. Now, in the result, mark off as many decimal places as are there in each of the given numbers.
  8. Comparison of Fractions:
    • Find the L.C.M. of the denominators of the given fractions. Convert each of the fractions into an equivalent fraction with L.C.M as the denominator, by multiplying both the numerator and denominator by the same number. The resultant fraction with the greatest numerator is the greatest.

Indian army official website joinindianarmy.nic.in has published the merit list of JAG 11 for men. This list contains the name of 11 candidates who have cleared the SSB interview of JAG 11 course for Indian army. Most of the candidates got TR during medical examination and they have a medical status of AMB [ Appeal Medical Board ]

SSC 42 Technical Entry: Updates

Today Indian army official website joinindianarmy.nic.in has posted some update on SSC-42 and SSCW- 13 tech entry, it is confusing for most of us because the message written over there is vague. Some candidates are getting confused regarding the list of shortlisted candidates for SSC 42 tech and SSCW-13 entry. Though, it will take sometime for Indian army to publish SSC 42 tech center allotment and SSB interview dates.

“SSC t 42 candidates please check  the list for your name and your email for further action to be carried out by you. Please respond to email sent against your name. (click here) “

This list contains the name of 5000+ candidates with email ids respectively. Its should not be the list of shortlisted candidates because the number of candidates are very less, in TGC 118 we have around 18000+ shortlisted candidates ( excluding missing names).

These candidates might have some issues with their application form and need to revert back to Indian army email sent to them. So, there is nothing to worry about, the final list of shortlisted candidates is yet to come.

Candidates who are mentioned in this list do check their email and reply as per the instructions. Also, do share that e- mail with us if you get one.
