Two Sikh Men Use Turbans To Save Four Lives

Two Sikh Men Use Turbans To Save Four Lives

A 24-year-old Sikh set aside religious code by removing his turban to save four youth from drowning in a canal in Sangrur. Four youths of Sarafa Bazaar Market had gone to a canal to immerse Ganesha idol on Friday last when a gush of water made them lose their balance at Sular Ghaat near Sunam village.

Inderpal Singh, who was sitting on embankment of the canal, noticed that the youths were drowning. He took off his turban, hurled it towards the youths and pulled them out with its help, police and eyewitnesses said.

The incident came to light after a video was circulated on the social media.

One of the youth saved said Mr. Singh had first tried to pull them out with the help of a wire that was lying on embankment of the canal but it broke. He then used his turban.

Is Your Modern Social Lifestyle Affecting Your OLQs

0
IMA Cadets

One of the most discussed topics nowadays. As far as I can recall, in my childhood or even by 10th grade I was not familiar with the word “alone” or “lonely” .But today we can see an 8th-grade student posting “feeling lonely”  that too “-with jaggu and 9 others “ :p . For a moment its funny to see, but how and why such a young blood started feeling lonely. The title of this blog is apt for debates, GDs and long lectures, but here I am going to highlight some points, that directly or indirectly are caused by inapt use of social media which could affect your OLQs.

Lack of imagination and creativity:-

Going to make a project? homework? need new ideas? *GOOGLE IT*. Google answers to every problem. We don’t even try to think of new ideas, just copy paste some stuff and we’re done. From art and crafts to dancing and singing every major or minor creativity is being surfed in vain. We don’t introspect, we don’t often give time to ourselves as we are quite busy in knowing about others. Do spend time with yourself, knowing yourself would make you wise and clear about things in your life, it will offer a better command over things going wrong in your life.

Reduces command over languages:-

“Awl f ew knw dat” (all of you know that), the language is being ruined by us the way I ruined the first line as an example. Well,  usually we are clear with the spellings before slang becomes handy, but we use it so often that sometimes we forget the real spelling and grammar. Be it any language slang and abbreviations could harm your knowledge about the language. So be smart enough to figure out the difference.

Lack of communication skills:-

Passionate to join defense forces, is sitting next a retired officer but don’t know how to initiate a conversation, because “hey, wts up” is not a good idea anyways. In a get together everybody is busy texting is a familiar scenario. Learn how to communicate efficiently, if you’ll not be able to communicate properly then how you would be able to express yourself? How would you Influence Others? So, do develop communication skills not just to talk but to express yourself in a proper way for better understanding of the real world around you.IMA Cadets

Unproductive hobbies:-

Ask others about their hobbies, you would notice that replies like “chatting with friends(via texts), watching tv “ etc would be quite frequent. Though everything that you like to do in your free time is supposed to be listed under hobby. But to be an officer, your hobbies should be quite productive. Even chatting and watching television is good if you are getting valuable knowledge from it, but very few handful of people would be doing this. So, develop some productive hobbies. When asked about our hobbies, we should be able to answer it confidently with knowledge  of everything or at least key points related to it.

Come out of your home, be sporty:-

Too many applications, too many games on smartphones have consumed and is still consuming too much of our time, leaving us lethargic and unfit. Be sporty, sports teaches a lot. Physical and mental stamina, team spirit, quick decision making etc are a few among many advantages that one can get by sports. Be live hearted and adventurous don’t just wait for a cool day, face the heat outside and believe that your inner heat will overshadow it.

It is a blessing that we are having so many resources to make our life easier and better, but we should use them wisely. Respect your time and others will respect it too for sure. Put on your blinkers like the horse in race, run your own race and don’t forget that we are not aiming at something ordinary…..We are shooting for STARS (on our shoulders).
