- New President of Iran:-Hassan Rohani took oath to the office of the Iran’s President on 4 August 2013. He succeeded Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the President.
- NASA’S Curiosity Rover celebrated its First Anniversary on Planet Mars on 6 August 2013.
- Japan unveiled its Biggest Warship:-Japan on 6 August 2013 unveiled its biggest warship since World War II called Izumo.
- US Presidential Medal of Freedom to be conferred on Bill Clinton and Oprah Winfrey for 2013 by President Barack Obama.
- Mali Presidential Elections:-Ibrahim Boubacar Keita won Mali’s Presidential elections on 12 August 2013.
- Egypt Clashes:-Vice President Mohamed Elbaradei resigned in protest over the attacks on pro Mohamed Morsi supporters in Cairo.
- Toxic Gas Attack on Syrian Capital, Damascus:-Thousands of people, including children were killed in the toxic gas attack on 21 August 2013 on the eastern suburbs of Damascus, the capital of Syria. This incident got international attention.
- Robert Mugabe sworn in for 7th term as President of Zimbabwe:-Robert Mugabe took oath to the office of Zimbabwe’s President for his seventh term. Since 1980, the independence year, Mugabe has headed Zimbabwe.
- Malala Yousafzai won 2013 International Children’s Peace Prize.
- Nelson Mandela became the First Recipient of the Mahathir Award. It is an award for Global Peace
- China and Pakistan to hold Joint Air Exercise:-The Chinese and Pakistani air forces on 28 August 2013 decided to hold a joint exercise called Shaheen-2.
