During his visit, Maj Gen Bhardwaj was briefed on the various initiatives undertaken by the Centre to integrate advanced technology into the training of Agniveers—recruits under the Agnipath Scheme launched by the Government of India in June 2022. The scheme aims to create a younger, more dynamic, and tech-savvy workforce for the Indian Armed Forces. A key highlight of the visit was the inspection of a state-of-the-art indoor shooting range, equipped with digital targets, which reflects the Army’s push towards leveraging technology to elevate training standards.

The Sikh Regimental Centre, part of the storied Sikh Regiment established on August 1, 1846, by the British East India Company, continues to uphold its legacy as one of the most decorated regiments in the Indian Army. With a history of gallantry in numerous global conflicts, including both World Wars, the regiment has grown to include 19 regular infantry and two reserve battalions. The Centre in Ramgarh plays a pivotal role in training recruits, ensuring they embody the regiment’s traditions of valor and service while adapting to modern warfare demands.

This visit follows a similar review by Maj Gen Bhardwaj in December 2024 at the Punjab Regimental Centre in Ramgarh, indicating a sustained focus on enhancing operational capabilities across regimental centres in the region. The Indian Army continues to prioritize technological integration and professional development, ensuring its forces remain prepared for contemporary challenges while honoring their rich heritage.
