Pune, February 18, 2025 – In a significant move towards enhancing self-reliance in the defence sector, Lt Gen ADS Aujla, Master General of Sustenance (MGS), IHQ MoD (Army), visited the 512 Army Base Workshop located in Pune on February 17, 2025.
The workshop, a flagship facility of the Indian Army, is dedicated to the restoration and recapitalization of Infantry Combat Vehicles, playing a crucial role in the nation’s ‘Aatmanirbharta’ initiative.

During his visit, Lt Gen Aujla commended the dedication and professionalism of all ranks and civil defence employees at the workshop. Their efforts are pivotal in strengthening India’s defence capabilities by ensuring the operational readiness of combat vehicles through indigenous means.
The 512 Army Base Workshop’s work is a testament to the commitment towards making India self-reliant in defence manufacturing, reducing the dependency on foreign military hardware.

The visit highlights the Indian Army’s proactive approach in modernizing its equipment through local resources, aligning with the broader national goal of self-sufficiency in defence production.
