India hosted the Conference on Women Peacekeepers from the Global South on 24-25 February 2025 at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, bringing together women peacekeepers from 35 nations to discuss their evolving roles and strategies for enhancing participation in UN peacekeeping missions. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

On the first day of the conference, delegates had the honor of meeting Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, followed by a keynote address by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. The conference saw active participation from three Assam Rifles women officers, who shared their insights on the challenges and opportunities for women in peacekeeping roles.
The discussions centered around the use of technology in modern peacekeeping operations, with special emphasis on:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) in proactive conflict prediction and management
- Role of telemedicine in supporting remote operations and medical emergencies
- Demonstration of ‘Unite Aware’—a tech platform enhancing the safety and security of UN peacekeepers

The conference underscored the importance of innovation, training, and collaboration in empowering women peacekeepers. It provided a platform for experience sharing, highlighting the critical role of women in conflict resolution, humanitarian assistance, and security operations.

By hosting this international event, India reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening global peacekeeping efforts, promoting greater gender inclusivity, and equipping women peacekeepers with the skills and technology necessary to operate effectively in conflict zones.
