First-Ever Ultrasonography Training at Military Veterinary Hospital NDA Khadakwasla

In a significant step towards enhancing veterinary care within the military, the Southern Command of the Indian Army organized its first-ever Ultrasonography Training at the 45 Military Veterinary Hospital (MVH) located at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla.

This groundbreaking initiative was held in collaboration with renowned equine veterinary radiology experts, Dr. Anil Lahane and Dr. Anushka Haldankar.

The training session saw active participation from Remount & Veterinary Corps officers and Nursing Assistant Vets from various locations, emphasizing the Indian Army’s commitment to improving diagnostic precision in animal healthcare. The event took place on February 18, 2025, underlining the Army’s proactive approach to adopting advanced veterinary practices.

Ultrasonography, a critical tool in modern veterinary medicine, allows for non-invasive examination of internal structures, which is particularly vital for the health management of Army animals, including horses used for ceremonial, operational, and recreational purposes.
