PM Modi Honors Indian Navy on Navy Day 2024 for Unwavering Commitment to National Security

On the occasion of Navy Day 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound appreciation for the courageous personnel of the Indian Navy, acknowledging their steadfast commitment to safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests. Through a message shared on his X social media account, PM Modi underscored the critical role that these sailors play in enhancing India’s security, prosperity, and maritime sovereignty.

In his message, the Prime Minister wrote, “On Navy Day, we salute the valiant personnel of the Indian Navy who protect our seas with unmatched courage and dedication. Their commitment ensures the safety, security, and prosperity of our nation. We also take great pride in India’s rich maritime history.”

In addition to the Prime Minister’s remarks, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also conveyed their best wishes to the Navy, recognizing its essential functions in the sphere of national security. Home Minister Shah noted that Navy Day serves to celebrate both the extraordinary combat capabilities of the Navy and its multifaceted role in strengthening international relations through the protection of maritime routes and the provision of humanitarian aid.

“This is an occasion that commemorates the staggering combat prowess of our Navy and honors the multidimensional role it plays by reinforcing our foreign relations through guarding the maritime routes and providing humanitarian support,” Shah stated.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh elaborated on the Navy’s integral position within India’s national security framework, emphasizing its role in ensuring safe, secure, and stable maritime environments. “The Indian Navy is an important pillar in the national security architecture, safeguarding India’s Maritime Security. Our Navy plays a pivotal role in ensuring safe, secure and stable seas, reaffirming our stature as the Preferred Security Partner and First Responder in the Indian Ocean Region,” he commented.

Navy Day is observed annually on December 4 to honor the Indian Navy’s accomplishments and to commemorate the successful execution of Operation Trident during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, where the Navy delivered significant strategic advantages against its adversary. This day serves as a reminder of the Navy’s historical contributions and its ongoing commitment to protect and serve the nation on the high seas.
