On December 3, 2024, the Indian Army commemorated World AIDS Day by hosting an educational lecture at Government High School in Massoite, Parat. This initiative aimed to align with the global theme for the year, “Ending the HIV Epidemic: Equitable Access, Everyone’s Voice,” and tackled significant local challenges associated with AIDS, including societal stigma, limited healthcare access, and a general lack of awareness in remote regions.
The lecture emphasized the critical need for early testing, prevention, and treatment, particularly in areas where difficult terrain can impede timely medical assistance. In response to these challenges, the Indian Army has been actively engaged in conducting Mobile Medical Patrols and organizing medical camps in partnership with the state government. These efforts are designed to educate and support local communities. Additionally, the Army has introduced free counseling services in isolated villages to further enhance support and awareness regarding HIV/AIDS.
The event attracted the participation of 59 students and three teachers, who engaged enthusiastically with the content of the lecture. Both students and educators expressed their sincere appreciation to the Indian Army for its unwavering commitment to addressing health and social issues in remote locations.
This initiative highlighted the Indian Army’s dedication to nurturing a healthier and better-informed society, reaffirming its resolve to serve underserved populations and promote equitable access to essential healthcare resources.
