Indian Army Unveils SMART Soldier Concept with Advanced AI Technologies

In a significant move towards military modernization, the Indian Army has announced its initiative to develop ‘SMART Soldiers’ equipped with advanced technology. At the 64th National Defence College (NDC) Course, Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi outlined that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to prepare the Army for future conflicts. The focus includes implementing the F-INSAS (Futuristic Infantry Soldier as a System) framework, enhancing mobility vehicles, and improving night combat capabilities.

General Dwivedi emphasized that these advancements not only aim to modernize the military but also align with the nation’s aspirations of becoming a developed country by 2047. The initiative seeks to build an army that is not just technologically advanced but also self-reliant, addressing future challenges efficiently. Among the technologies being explored are nano drones, satellite technology, and the establishment of dedicated research centers aimed at fostering innovation in drone technology.

In related developments, the Indian Coast Guard’s Director General S Paramesh met with General Dwivedi to discuss key aspects of national security, ICG preparedness, and capacity building. The meeting, which took place on Wednesday, highlighted contemporary challenges that necessitate enhanced cooperation between security agencies. The discussions also covered the imperative for modernization and technological advancements to mitigate asymmetric threats faced by the nation.

Later the same day, DG Paramesh had an audience with President Droupadi Murmu, where he reported on the Coast Guard’s unwavering commitment to maritime law enforcement and national security. Accompanied by Priya Paramesh, president of Tatrakshika, he reiterated the importance of the Coast Guard’s role in maintaining security in maritime domains.

These initiatives underscore India’s ongoing dedication to enhancing its defense capabilities in response to evolving security challenges, reflecting a proactive stance in safeguarding national interests.
