The 8th edition of the Navy to Navy Staff Talks between India and the United Arab Emirates was successfully held on the sidelines of the 12th Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from July 8-9, 2024. Commodore Manmeet S. Khurana, Commodore (Fleet Command), from the Indian Navy, and Staff Brigadier Rashid Khamis Alnaqbi, Chief of Naval Operations of the UAE Navy, co-chaired the talks.
These discussions focused on enhancing naval cooperation across various fields, including the conduct of joint maritime exercises. The talks are a part of ongoing efforts to strengthen military ties between the two nations and to foster security collaboration in the maritime domain.
Additionally, the Indian delegation for the JDCC meeting was led by Joint Secretary Sh. Amitabh Prasad from the Ministry of Defence, India. This high-level engagement included meetings with senior officials from the UAE Ministry of Defence, underlining the strategic importance of India-UAE defense relations.
The Navy to Navy Staff Talks and the JDCC meeting collectively underscore the deepening defense partnership between India and the UAE, reaffirming their commitment to a “Stronger Together” approach in addressing regional security challenges and enhancing mutual cooperation.
