The steel-cutting ceremony for the first Next-Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV) was held on May 31, 2024, at the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai. The event was graced by senior officials of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and representatives from the Ministry of Defence.

This ceremony marks the commencement of a significant project aimed at enhancing India’s maritime capabilities.
