National Defence Academy Celebrates Convocation Ceremony for 146th Course

In a poignant convocation address, Prof Bansal extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduating cadets for their remarkable accomplishment and successful completion of their arduous training regimen.

The prestigious Habibullah Hall at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune resonated with pride and achievement as the Convocation Ceremony for the 146th course unfolded in grandeur.

A total of 205 cadets, representing the epitome of dedication and excellence, were conferred the esteemed Bachelor’s degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, marking the culmination of their rigorous training at one of the world’s premier military academies.

The Chief Guest for this momentous occasion was Prof (Dr) Sat Prakash Bansal, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala, and Vice Chancellor (Additional Charge) of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.

The convocation ceremony witnessed the conferral of degrees across various streams, with 82 cadets receiving degrees in Science, 84 in Computer Science, and 39 in Arts. Additionally, 17 cadets from friendly foreign countries were honored with degrees, reflecting the academy’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and camaraderie.

A special mention was reserved for the B Tech stream, comprising 132 cadets from the Navy and Air Force.

While these cadets received their ‘three years course completion’ certificates during the ceremony, they will be formally conferred with their degrees upon completion of their one-year training at their respective pre-commissioning training academies – the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, and the Air Force Academy, Hyderabad.

The convocation ceremony also provided an opportunity to reflect on the academic achievements and highlights of the Spring Term 2024.

The comprehensive academic report underscored the academy’s commitment to excellence in education and training, preparing cadets to meet the challenges of leadership and service in the armed forces.

Prior to the convocation ceremony, a captivating Cadets’ Activity Display was held at the Bombay Stadium, showcasing the exceptional skills and proficiency acquired by the cadets through rigorous military training.

The event was graced by the presence of Chief of Army Staff Gen Manoj Pande, along with various senior dignitaries and proud parents of the Passing Out Course.

The display, characterized by awe-inspiring acts of combat and adventure, commenced with a spectacular equestrian display, followed by a synchronized Tri-Services Attack Demo showcasing jointmanship among cadets.

The highlight of the event was a breathtaking skydiving display by the elite Akash Ganga Team, demonstrating courage and precision in the face of adversity.

The cadets further exhibited their physical prowess through synchronized rope exercises and gymnastic maneuvers, culminating in a mesmerizing musical ride that captivated the audience.

The event concluded with a tableau formation bidding farewell to the 146th Course, presented by the High Horse Team, evoking a sense of pride and nostalgia among all present.
