Military Institute of Technology Dedicates Bust to Honor Late General Bipin Rawat

The dedication of the bust at MILIT underscores the institution's commitment to honoring the legacy of leaders who have significantly shaped the Indian Armed Forces.

In a poignant ceremony held at the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT) in Pune, a bust of India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, Late General Bipin Rawat, was unveiled and dedicated. The event was marked by a solemn tribute led by Air Vice Marshal Vivek Blouria, the Commandant of MILIT, alongside staff from the Tri-Services. The commemoration served as a heartfelt remembrance of General Rawat’s influential role and enduring contributions to the Indian Armed Forces.

Established in 1952 and having undergone several evolutions in its nomenclature and function, MILIT today stands as a premier tri-services training institution under the Ministry of Defence. It provides advanced training to select officers from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, and friendly foreign countries.

General Bipin Rawat

The institute specializes in military technology, warfare, procurement procedures, and operational logistics. Upon successful completion of the Defence Services Technical Staff Course (DSTSC), officers are awarded an M.Sc in Military Technology from Pune University.

General Bipin Rawat, who tragically passed away in a helicopter crash on December 8, 2021, near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, is remembered for his dynamic leadership and strategic foresight. Throughout his distinguished career, General Rawat held various prestigious roles, including Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and later as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). His dedication to the nation was recognized with several honors, including the Param Vishisht Seva Medal and the Padma Vibhushan.
