On Saturday, a vehicle convoy of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was targeted by terrorists in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in injuries to five military personnel. The attack occurred in the evening as the convoy was navigating towards Sanai Top in the district’s Surankote area.
Security officials reported that the local Rashtriya Rifles unit has initiated a cordon and search operation in response to the incident. The injured soldiers have been secured, with two of them in critical condition and promptly transported to a hospital for medical attention.
This assault marks the second attack on security forces in Poonch this year, following a similar incident in January when an Army convoy faced heavy firing from suspected militants near Krishna Ghati. The ongoing search operations involve both the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, with reinforcements being called in to bolster the efforts.
Security measures have been intensified around the area, especially near Jarran Wali Gali (JWG) in Surankot, where every vehicle is being thoroughly checked to prevent further incidents and track down the perpetrators.
The situation remains tense as the security forces continue their extensive search to locate and neutralize the terrorists responsible for the attack.
