In a display of camaraderie and strategic partnership, Indian and US armed forces personnel came together for friendly matches of volleyball and basketball. These games mark the Harbor Phase of the ExTigerTriumph2024, an emblematic event showcasing the cooperative spirit between the two nations. The Opening Ceremony for this grand bilateral tri-service humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) amphibious exercise was inaugurated onboard the INS Jalashwa on March 19, 2024, symbolizing the robust alliance and shared objectives of India and the US.
Tiger Triumph 2024, conducted at Visakhapatnam from March 18 to 25, serves not only as a platform for enhancing military cooperation but also fosters mutual understanding and knowledge exchange through sports and professional discussions. The exercise includes a comprehensive schedule featuring pre-sail talks, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges on various professional topics, and meticulous planning and execution procedures for various tasks.
One of the highlights of this phase is the sports engagements designed to bolster the bonds between the participating forces of both nations. Following the Harbor Phase, the Sea Phase will take place from March 26 to 31, which will see the forces setting up a joint Command and Control Centre along with a Joint Relief and Medical Camp, symbolizing the unity and shared commitment to global peace and humanitarian efforts.
A key aspect of the exercise is the Planning and Coordination Exercise aimed at refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure seamless coordination between the forces of the two countries in times of need. The exercise showcases an impressive array of military hardware and expertise from both nations. The Indian contingent includes a Landing Platform Dock, Landing Ship Tanks (Large) with integral Landing Crafts and helicopters, a guided missile frigate, and Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft, among others. The Indian Army and Air Force are also significantly represented, bringing to the fore a comprehensive display of India’s military capabilities.
The US contingent is equally formidable, featuring a Landing Platform Dock with its integral Landing Craft Air Cushions and helicopters, a Destroyer, and an array of maritime reconnaissance and medium lift aircraft, alongside the formidable presence of US Marines.
ExTigerTriumph2024 underscores the deep-seated strategic partnership between India and the US, with a focus on sharing best practices and enhancing interoperability in multinational HADR operations. The event stands as a testament to the strong ties and mutual respect between the armed forces of both countries, paving the way for a more secure and cooperative global environment.
