The exercise, aimed at sharing best practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in multinational HADR operations, underscores the growing synergy and collaboration between the armed forces of both nations.
The ceremony, held aboard the INS Jalashwa, symbolizes the commencement of a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing the readiness and interoperability of Indian and US forces in responding to humanitarian crises and disaster situations.
Through joint exercises and cooperative engagements, Tiger Triumph seeks to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations while fostering greater regional stability and security.
The Harbour Phase of the exercise, scheduled from March 18 to March 25, 2024, is currently underway at Visakhapatnam.
This phase includes a series of pre-sail discussions, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) on professional subjects, and deliberations on planning and execution procedures for various tasks. Sports engagements have also been organized to promote camaraderie and teamwork among the participating armed forces personnel of both nations.
Following the Harbour Phase, the Sea Phase of the exercise will take place from March 26 to March 31, 2024.
During this phase, units from both countries will collaborate in setting up a joint Command and Control Centre and a Joint Relief and Medical Camp, simulating real-life disaster response scenarios.
A Planning and Coordination Exercise will run concurrently to refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and enable rapid coordination between the forces of India and the United States.
The Indian Navy’s participation in Tiger Triumph includes a Landing Platform Dock, Landing Ship Tanks (Large) with integral Landing Crafts and helicopters, guided missile Frigates, and Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft.
The Indian Army will be represented by an infantry battalion group, including mechanized forces, while the Indian Air Force will deploy medium lift aircraft, transport helicopters, and a Rapid Action Medical Team (RAMT). Special Ops Forces from all three services will also take part in the exercise.
The US Task Force, on the other hand, comprises a US Navy Landing Platform Dock with integral Landing Craft Air Cushions and helicopters, a Destroyer, maritime reconnaissance, and medium lift aircraft, as well as US Marines.
