The spirit of maritime cooperation and camaraderie was on full display as a team of 12 members, consisting of personnel from the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, embarked on a special visit to maritime establishments and facilities in the Philippines.
This initiative, conducted under the aegis of INDO-ASEAN initiatives, aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and foster mutual training skills among overseas maritime forces, while enriching the bond between India and the Philippines.
Led by representatives from the ICG ship Samudra Paheredar, the team paid visits to various maritime establishments across the Philippines, including the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) K9 force in CGBT, RTC-Taguig, and MRRV-9702.
These visits provided a unique opportunity for the Indian delegation to interact with their counterparts in the Philippines, exchange best practices, and gain insights into the operational capabilities of the Philippine maritime forces.
At the PCG K9 force in CGBT, the team witnessed firsthand the specialized training and capabilities of the PCG’s K9 unit in maritime security and search and rescue operations.
The exchange of knowledge and experiences between the Indian Coast Guard personnel and their Filipino counterparts served to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation in tackling common maritime challenges.
Similarly, the visit to RTC-Taguig offered valuable insights into the training methodologies and facilities utilized by the Philippine Coast Guard for the professional development of its personnel.
The Indian delegation had the opportunity to observe training exercises, engage in discussions with trainers and trainees, and explore avenues for collaboration in maritime training and capacity-building initiatives.
The highlight of the visit was the interaction with the crew of MRRV-9702, a multi-role response vessel of the Philippine Coast Guard. The Indian Coast Guard personnel and NCC cadets were given a tour of the vessel, where they gained insights into its capabilities and operational readiness.
The exchange of experiences and expertise between the two maritime forces further strengthened the bonds of friendship and cooperation between India and the Philippines.
The visit concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing their commitment to further deepening bilateral cooperation and collaboration in maritime security and capacity-building efforts.
The exchange served as a testament to the strong bonds of friendship and partnership between India and the Philippines, as well as the shared commitment to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
