The man arrested had retired from the army in 2003 and later posed as Colonel Chauhan to scam people. He, along with his two sons, tricked people into paying ₹7 to 9 lakh for fake job placements. They started this scam in 2016.

ASP Brijesh Singh of the STF stated that the man’s sons, Rajat Yadav and Prashant Yadav, are involved in the scam but weren’t found during the raid. Efforts to arrest them are ongoing. The STF seized various items, including identity cards and mobile phones, from the location.
