8 Army Movies Every Defence Aspirant Should Watch

Lakshay: Hrithik Roshan starred in this film revolving around the life of Karan Shergill from his college days to the Acting Captain in India Army. Though the movie is a work of fiction, it had the Kargil war as its backdrop.

Movies not only provide entertainment, but they also inspire us. They have a tremendous influence on our minds. They also portray the true essence of the situations. War-based movies give us a patriotic feeling whereas a movie based on the army lifestyle inspires us to join the defense forces.

Indian Defence Movies

  1. Border: Considered as one of the best war time movies ever made, this movie was a huge success. In 1971, along the border region of Longewala, a small battalion of Indian soldiers go up against a 2000-(armed) soldier Pakistani strike force. This movie got a 7.5 rating on the imdb.

  3. LOC Kargil: This movie was based on the true events in the Kargil war. This movie was mainly centered on operation Vijay.
  4. Tango Charlie: Directed by Mani Shankar, the movie starred Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty and Bobby Deol in leading roles. The movie revolves around the Tarun Chauhan, played by Bobby Deol, presenting his journey from a new recruit to one of the bravest war soldiers of the country.
  5. Haqeeqat: Directed by Chetan Anand, ‘Haqeeqat’ stars Balraj Sahni and Dharmendra in the leading roles and is based on the Sino-Indian War of 1962.
  6. 1971: Directed by Amrit Sagar ‘1971’ is the true account of the Prisoners of War of the Indo-Pak war of 1971. The movie had Manoj Bajpai in the leading role and is considered one of the most underrated movies ever made in Bollywood.
  7. Vijeeta: Directed by Govind Nihalani, ‘Vijeeta’ follows the story of Angad, played by Kunal Kapoor, from being a confused teenager to a brave air force pilot. The movie also has Shashi Kapoor and Rekha in the leading roles.
  8. Lalkaar: Directed by the legendary Ramanand Sagar, ‘Lalkaar’ brings to the screen, the fight between the Indian army and Japanese invaders in Burma during World War II.

Though these movies were not as much a blockbuster as 3 Idiots, they continue to provide us inspiration and motivation.
