Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat will take over as the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee from tomorrow. The army’s top general will be taking over the reign of the Chief of Staff Committee from Air Force Chief Birender Singh Dhanoa, who is scheduled to retire at the end of September. General Rawat has been appointed this coveted position as he is the seniormost service chief at the moment.
The Chiefs of Staff Committee was formed following the recommendation of the Naresh Chandra Task Force in 2012. The committee was formed to enhance Jointmanship between the Tri-services.
