Indian Navy To Initiate Court Martial Of An Officer For Molesting Colleague’s Daughter

Indian Navy will court martial an officer for allegedly molesting a child. The decision was taken after a board of inquiry found the accused officer guilty of molestation. The officer was accused of molesting a colleague’s seven-year-old daughter at the tri-Service Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) at Wellington in Tamil Nadu earlier this year. The accused commander is likely to be tried under the protection of children from sexual offences act, which was enacted in 2012 to prevent abuse and exploitation of children
The naval board of inquiry (BoI) had found the officer, a commander (equivalent to a Lt-Colonel in the Army), prima guilty of “inappropriately” touching the child at a party, after which the Navy decided to court martial him. The commander, who was undergoing the staff course at DSSC, inappropriately touched the girl, said sources.

Major/lieutenant colonel-ranked officers of the army, navy and air force are trained at DSSC. The accused commander has completed the one-year course at the DSSC, which is considered to be a stepping stone for career progression. But would not be awarded the degree.

Really a shocking and sad news. Kudos to Indian Navy for serving the justice.
