EKT 1 2017 was conducted on 28 Feb 2017, right after AFCAT 1 2017. EKT 1 2017 was attended by candidates who opted for the technical branch of the Indian army. To get an AFSB interview call for the technical branch of the Indian air force one needs to clear the EKT exam along with AFCAT.
This means, if you qualify in AFCAT but not in EKT, then you are not eligible for Technical branch. But unlike this, if you fail to qualify in AFCAT but qualify in EKT though, you are not considered as qualified candidate.
