China’s Biggest Arm Export Deal Goes to Pakistan

China is the biggest arms supplier of Pakistan and now, the relations are taking new heights. While India is expanding its tentacles to widen its military arms and weapon, on the other hand, Pakistan is getting full support from its all-weather friend, China for enhancing its capabilities and taking over India in all aspects. The relations between both the nation (Pakistan and China) are getting stronger, day by day and recent submarine deal between these nations has attracted the eyes of other neighboring countries.

China has recently come into another deal with Pakistan to acquire 8 diesel- electric attack submarines to Pakistan. As per the deal, Pakistan will acquire 8 modified submarines in a $5 billion deal by 2028. The deal is another link between Pakistan and China’s close relations. As per the sources, the submarines that have to be exported are not decided, but experts indicated the submarines could be the lighter version of Type 039 and Type 041 yuan class submarines of China. The deal is to export 4 submarines to Pakistan by 2023 and the remaining 4 will be assembled in Pakistan by 2028. Further, China is also extending long term loan to Pakistan at lower rates to cover the cost of the project.

The deal came as a boon for Pakistan after U.S. catered F-16 deal went down due to certain international concerns. Simultaneously, the financial aid given to Pakistan by U.S. also came under focus due to Pakistan harboring terror activities in its territory.

Earlier, China and Pakistan have tied deal in the area of infrastructure, solar, logistics and other fields. Chabahar deal was one of the main links between both the nations. Talking about military relations, China and Pakistan are reported to be involved in the projects of JF-17 fighter jet, K-8 training aircraft, AWACS system, Al- Khalid tanks etc. CPEC – China Pakistan economic corridor is the biggest hit project between China and Pakistan, which is expected to escalate the economic and trading facilities in Pakistan. But the Karakorum highway is the conflicting issue between India and China as it passes through the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

The news came after India got the allegation of leakage of crucial data in Scorpene deal with France leading to a chaos in military arena. The mews shake the Indian defense department leading to havoc in the nation.  Currently, India is also facing the problem of aging submarines and some up-gradations in naval arms. India is constantly working over the modernization of arms and weapons, engaging private companies in defense manufacturing and even brought the FDI level in defense to 100%. The process is in full swing. Apache and Chinook, M-777 Howitzer guns, KAMOV Helicopter etc. will be the new entrants in Indian armed forces in the upcoming years strengthening the military preparedness and instant responding ability of the armed forces.China Arms Sales

The Pakistan China duo is a cause of concern not only for India, but also for U.S. and other nations. Highly dedicated approach of China military infrastructure in South China Sea is also a hint of future contradiction of China with other nations. Both these neighboring nations are inclining the ways toward each other. And India should stay ready to counter any kind of action from both sides.
