Indian Air Force is the dream organization of many Armed Forces aspirants. The organization provides a variety of tasks to its men to bring out a better outcome. Well, it sometimes becomes a question in interview, where candidates are asked about the respective responsibilities and services delivered by the branches. This mostly happens in the AFCAT entries. Candidates must know about the tasks handled by the branch for which they have applied, along with an overview of other branches. So, we are here with a short overview of the responsibilities of all three branches of Indian Air Force.
Flying – Most of the IAF aspirant have craze of joining the IAF as a pilot. Fighter planes with the combat and transportation of ammunition tasks, aircraft which transports men and material, helicopters are in service for casual and emergency transportation, air support and supplies etc. Navigators, who guides the pilots are also included in this field. They are trained for all kinds of war and peace time missions. Whether it be any local help, air support in case of disasters or observation and action missions in war times.
Technical – As the name specifies, the branch is fully technical. The branch has all kinds of engineering works included in it. Engineering of jets, weapons and equipment’s all is done by them. Aeronautical and electrical engineers are taken into service to handle aircraft and Electronic and Communication tasks. They are responsible for all kinds of technical procedures and managements in the aircraft and respective equipment.
Ground Duty – All other tasks like administration, logistics, meteorological and education are merged in it. The Administration branch has air traffic control and fighter control to manage the easy flight schedules. While Accounts branch deals with all kinds of fund management and acts as an auditor to make a transparency in funds. Logistics branch has to manage the material and equipment and ensure its right usage. Meteorological department handles the satellite imagery and relative information to bring out a correct data for helping the aircrafts. Educational branch is involved in all kinds of educational tasks.
Conclusion – The branches of Indian Air Force are segregated to lower down the complexity and maximize the service output. All branches work together in coordination with full active support to each other, making Air Force an effective organization. Most of the Armed Forces aspirants prefer to join the Indian Air force and for that all aspirants should stay aware of the basic duties of all the branches of IAF.
