6 Ways To Improve Your Communication Skills

Communication is the most important technique, used in SSB to bring out the actual personality of the candidates. Being a good communicator is the first requirement and good communication skill channelize your thoughts to the listener in the manner you want. If you look at the entire SSB schedule, you will find out that half of the battle in SSB is related to your speaking ability in different situations. So firstly brush up your communication skill and then head to your SSB centers. To help all the aspirants in improving their communication skill, below are some points that will help them to come up with better performance.

  1. Listen More Than You Speak – A good communicator always carefully listens what others are saying. Just speaking and bundling the arguments is not good communication. Absorbing the points of people and replying as per the stimuli is required.
  2. Focus On What The Speaker Says – Your aim should be to grab what the speaker says. The first thing of any communication is to listen what the others are trying to convey and how you should respond to it. A nonparallel response will never thrust a better communication stream.
  3. Nonverbal Communication Is Absorbed By Observers – Communication also includes your posture and gestures. Your non-verbal behavior matters a lot in your communication part. Maintain and coordinate them in a smart way. Try to control your posture and gestures in personal interview and manage them in GTO tasks.Communication Skills
  4. Always Stay Straight Forward And Set Aside The Misunderstandings – A better communication is where the intermingling of thoughts stays away and communicators keeps the comments straight forward, which can be easily grabbed by the listener.
  5. Be Smooth In Talking – Your tone and words must be crystal clear. Frequent repetition of words (like, that is, means….) shows your low confidence and nervousness. Now focusing over its remedy, constant practice eradicates this problem. To find out his problem, record your speech and listen to it. You will find your problem.
  6. Asks Questions And Untangles Doubts – A good communicator always clarifies the doubts. Good listening, speaking and inquiring attitude are traits of a good communicator. Just speaking is not the only thing. You have to be bold enough to put out your doubts and get your query cleared. Counter-questioning brings out a better experience.

Conclusion – Communication plays a crucial role in every phase of an officer’s life, whether he is on duty or off duty. Before attending SSB, make sure that you have good communication skills. Firstly, introspect yourself and find out the areas where you are lacking. Communication skill is mostly encountered problem in the aspirants and need deep analysis to introspect. Always try to make a constant communication without any interruption. Your thoughts must reach people directly without any interruption or misunderstanding. Work hard, be focused and stay mentally alert. You have it in you. What all you need is your will power and dedication.
