The Indian army is one of the world’s largest and strongest army with around 13 lakh serving personal, it is thus essential for it to be organised n ordered to have perfect synergy in the case of operations. The army for this purpose is divided into commands and these commands are tactically placed to counter the enemy. We take a look at the commands of the army in this post.
The Indian Army has several tactical commands that are responsible for the defense and security of different regions of the country. These tactical commands are:
- Northern Command: This command is responsible for the defense of the northern region of India, including the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Its headquarters is located in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir.
- Western Command: This command is responsible for the defense of the western region of India, including the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and parts of Himachal Pradesh. Its headquarters is located in Chandimandir, near Chandigarh.
- Eastern Command: This command is responsible for the defense of the eastern region of India, including the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, and parts of Jharkhand. Its headquarters is located in Kolkata.
- Central Command: This command is responsible for the defense of the central region of India, including the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand. Its headquarters is located in Lucknow.
- Southern Command: This command is responsible for the defense of the southern region of India, including the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and parts of Maharashtra. Its headquarters is located in Pune.
- South Western Command: This command is responsible for the defense of the southwestern region of India, including the states of Gujarat and parts of Rajasthan and Maharashtra. Its headquarters is located in Jaipur.
- Training Command: This command is responsible for the training of the Indian Army’s personnel. Its headquarters is located in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
