  1. Determination: Only few cultures have been engineered like the one military veteran has been a part of. They focus entirely on mission achievement, cooperation and personal development. The fact is that there is no culture in the world that shapes people in the way the military does.
  2. Commitment: Veterans are experienced at looking at the big picture and completing their assigned task. They will not even complain about working hard for long hours or missing their breaks when there is something that urgently needs to be completed. They’re adept at tackling problems and handling challenges without losing focus of their goal.
  3. Teamwork: Military veterans are familiar with working together as a team and they know its importance as it could’ve made the difference between life and death. This ability is greatly in demand with companies in any industry, which makes a veteran the perfect team member.
  4. Leadership Skills: Leadership skills of veterans are built-in them as they’ve experienced it in while going up their ranks in service. Veterans have pre-owned leadership skills. They can handle responsibilities placed on them – the more the rank, the more the responsibilities. Age or tenure is not that matters the most but rather the quality of contribution and leadership they provide.
  5. Integrity: Veterans know what it means to do “an honest day’s work.” Prospective employers can take advantage of a track record of integrity, often including security clearances. This integrity translates into qualities of sincerity and trustworthiness.
  6. Hard Working and can Handle Pressure like a Pro: Veterans understand the rigors of tight schedules and limited resources. They have developed the capacity to know how to accomplish priorities on time, in spite of a tremendous stress. They know the critical importance of staying with a task until it is done right.
  7. Responsibility: Military people are more responsible because when they were very young there were serious consequences to the decisions they made. Veterans have passed through trials that most people haven’t, ensuring that they are responsible individuals who can successfully carry out their duties.
  8. Learn New Skills Quickly: Veterans have the proven ability to learn new skills and concepts. In addition, they can enter workforce with identifiable and transferable skills, proven in real-world situations. This background can enhance organization’s productivity.
