AFCAT 2016 exam was conducted recently and already there is a hustle amongst the candidates about the cutoff, or the result date. For those of you who have given AFCAT for the first time, here are few things you need to know, what all to do after AFCAT.
What is the cutoff?
The cutoff is the mark including and after which candidates are called for SSB. It means that a certain mark is decided and candidates who score after that are called for SSB. Generally it lies between 110-130. You can look up previous AFCAT’s cut-offs to know the marks. However it depends on the difficulty of the paper, the number of applicants and the average performance.Â
How to get the results?
On the day of the result you’ll get to know that the results have been published, either through the IAF website or through our website whichever’s notification reaches you first. Generally we are spot on time. You can look up your roll number in the document published by IAF, also you can login to your account in the candidate login section and get your marks and results.Â
What if I get through the written Test?
After getting through the written test, you’ll be asked to choose your own SSB date. This is a very flexible step taken by the IAF. This allows you to choose your own SSB date, based on your convenience. What will happen is that you’ll have to login through your candidate login, which you used to fill up the form, and get the admit card. Certain dates will be mentioned out which you can choose the date most suitable to you, for your SSB. Also you can choose your AFSB center.
When can I expect the results?
Generally, it takes up around 15 days to a month for IAF to publish the results. Keeping that in mind you can expect the results by end of September till first week of October.
Is AFSB same as SSB?
Except for the name rest everything is more or less the same. Except AFSB is meant for IAF candidates only. And through AFCAT you will get to choose AFSB only as your selection center. There are four functional AFSBs, 3 AFSB Gandhinagar being the newest. Others are 1 AFSB Dehradun, 2 AFSB Mysore and 4 AFSB Varanasi. One thing you should keep in mind is that you can’t choose the AFSB if you reside in that city. For example, if your parents live in Dehradun, or you study in Dehradun you can’t choose Dehradun as your AFSB.
How to prepare for AFSB?
There is ample material present on our website which can guide you step by step to the preparations. Feel free to follow them.
