Education and Skill on Tough Routes

Education these days has been no more than getting a certificate to show in your academic achievements. But as the current scenario is changing, the most respected and the dream institute of lakhs of aspirants of IITs and NITs has been in news for some bad news. While on the other hand, skill development initiative by Indian government with a vision to make India fully reliant has been hit among people and especially women segment which really need emphasize from government.
Recently, Indian government released a shocking data, that shows about 4400 students of IITs and NITs were dropped out in last three years. About 2000 were dropped out from IITs in last two sessions and 2,300 were dropped out from NITs in last three years. Various reasons were described behind the dropping out, like getting job during PG courses, personal and medical reasons, shifting to other college, academic stress etc.

Some institutes like IITs in Mandi, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Madras and Ropar showed now dropping out in last session. While IIT Roorkee showed highest rate of dropping followed by IIT kharagpur and IIT Delhi

Although government has said that it is emphasizing on reducing the count and specially overcome the academic stress in the students.

Big institutes are taking hiccups in there working, but some other areas have shown much satisfactory outcomes.

Recently Lok Sabha was informed that more than 25 lakh children with special needs are enrolled in schools and some 2 lakhs with profound special needs are taken under home based education system. The data came after the implementation of Deen Dayal rehabilitation scheme under which about 4-5 special schools were being run by NGOs where 52 thousand children have been enrolled during last session.

SKIS (skill development initiative scheme) got positive response from India as about 12.6 lakh women have availed for skill development training through 10,000 training centers. According to the skill development and entrepreneurship minister nearly 1.41 lakhs women are trained every year. Similar participation of women was observed in Pradhan Mantri Kausahal Vikas Yojna, which was also started for skill development. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana which was released by ministry of rural development has a preserved 33% coverage for women in each skill development program. This program has a vision of skilling 3.4 lakh women during this 12th five- year plan.
Education system in India is going through some ups and down. As the competition in this field is going through such a way that competitive exam’s and job’s aspirants are ready to even illegal shortcuts resulting in various scams like Vyapam, teacher’s recruitment and nurse recruitment scam etc. as the academic stress and burden of studies with a sprint for marks has been in fashion, students has suffered a lot. In alternate path to achieve the economic goals, skill development has been seen as a supportive approach in nation’s development. Government policies and schemes seems to be a better option to pace up the development and boosting the youth’s moral in this era entirely dependent on competition.Education-and-Skill-on-Tough-Routes
