15 August of every year is celebrated as Independence Day of India. On this date in 1947, the country mark freedom from British rule. On this date, the country was legally declared as an independent country.
India’s Position in the World: Since independence, India has made a high leap economically, scientifically and technologically. A few years back India was disclosed as the world’s fifth most powerful country. According to the recent sources, India will overtake China as the world’s fastest growing economy by 2017. Since 1947 till today, the country has progressed with a lot of development in various fields.

- Ease of Doing Business: Since 1947, India slowly but steadily opened its markets through economic liberalization.
- Make in India: PM Narendra Modi initialized “Make in India” to transform India into a global manufacturing hub. Soon after taking the oath as PM, Modi toured major countries over the globe to attract foreign companies to establish their companies in India and put a helping hand to its economy.
- Digital India: Digital India is a Govt of India initiative to reduce paperwork and bring every government program on digital platform.

Defense Strength
- Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO): The Indian space agency, which had made our country proud in numerous space activities. Founded in 1969, the space agency made a start with the launch of Aryabhata satellite on 19 April in 1975. Recently, ISRO made a tie-up with Russia to boost its semi-cryogenic launcher plan.
- Pokaran 1 and Pokaharan 2: Indian’s nuclear test after 27 years of independence has proved to be a big leap in scientific development with respect to defense.
- BrahMos: The collaboration Russian and India give birth to a supersonic missile named BrahMos. Being a big development and a strength to India, it is one of the fastest supersonic missile which make India proud.
- AMCA and Tejas: With the initiation of developing own fighter jet, HAL (Hindustan Aeronautical Limited) developed Light Combat Aircraft (named Tejas). The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), fifth generation fighter jet is also proposed by the HAL which is a big step in competing with global super powers.
- Arjun Tank: The battleship monster in Indian army, Arjun tank is one of the biggest strength of Defense forces. It is specially developed by DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization).
