Expectations:

From the previous visits of PM Narendra Modi to various countries, India is expecting more strong relations from central Asian countries which are an integral part of Asia. These countries can also be a part of India’s economic development.

  • BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, china, South Africa), will have the discussion to strength up the economic field and prominently decision on trade in local currency. With an introduction of New Development Bank, BRICS marked a new era of development among the member countries and also justified the composition of the group members.
  • In a positive step, the SCO summit that will be held in Ufa, Russia, India will become a permanent member of SCO, bringing India in the list with China, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
  • Uzbekistan, being the most popular central Asian country, want ties with India to reduce its dependency on China and Russia.
  • Kazakhstan the largest (in area) and wealthiest nation of central Asia, India already has space and nuclear ties with it. About half of the central Asian trade is with this country.
  • Turkmenistan was in news some years ago for the gas pipeline project called TAPI which means the route of the pipeline i.e. Turkmenistan Afghanistan Pakistan India. It is assumed that if the project got successfully constructed, then it will be India’s first land connection with central Asia.
  • Kyrgyzstan is the only central Asian nation to have a military exercise with India. Being the smallest nation on central Asia, it lies between Russia and china. Medical tourism and enhanced air flight system are expected from the Prime Minister’s visit.
  • Tajikistan is the closest nation of India. Sources say that it is the nation where India had a military hospital which was the only overseas hospital of the army. But circumstances and Russian interference led India to step back. Most of the foreign aid that India send to central Asia goes to Tajikistan. More strong ties are being expected from the visit.Expectations-from-Modis-Six-Nation-Visit
