Why To Join The Armed Forces: The Overriding Factor

Ever wondered? Why don’t professions like engineering, medical, law, arts, media, management etc excite you enough? When rest of the world is vying for cushy and comfy jobs what has happened to you? Well this might be the question which people of your surroundings may be asking you. Don’t worry you are not alone, there many of us who are bitten by the same bug, the bug of serving the country in uniform. Well, we tried to go deep into the dominant factor which drives you to be a part of the forces, the results of which are illustrated in the article below.

It is because of these people that Indian Armed Forces have a special place in hearts of fellow countrymen.
  1. THE CHARM OF THE UNIFORM : Yes, it is indeed true that uniform transforms your personality left right and centre. There is a saying that “Those in uniform are real men, others are just plain males”. Nothing gives you greater satisfaction than seeing yourself in the mirror in the uniform.
  1. PRIDE AND HONOUR : When your father says “, you see, my son is in the Indian Army” a certain pomp reflects in his voice, It is all because of your achievements. When your mom says “, my girl is a Flying Officer in the Air force” she relives her youth along with you. When just about anybody asserts “, look there. The person in the resplendent white uniform is a Naval Officer” a sense of self pride overwhelms you. Well, this is the effect which no other career option will produce, no matter how much ever you earn; there are some things that money can never buy.
  1. REMUNERATION AND JOB SECURITY : Now needless to say, given the volatile nature of markets these days, even the CEO of a million dollar company is under the constant threat of losing his job. A Gentleman once said”, when you join the armed forces, you get married to the armed forces.” The armed forces treat its men with utmost delicacy. Once you are in the forces there is no looking back. You can be rest assured of your job and pay scale.
  1. OTHER FACTORS : Things like free medical, proper care of dependents, sports & adventure activities are just like icing on the cake. You also get adequate allowances, leaves and retirement benefits. Apart from these you can go abroad on various missions. You can even enhance your knowledge and do post graduation from institutes such as the IITs. The wet canteen facility is like manna from heaven for people having an appetite for liquor. And there is a boatload of secondary benefits too!
