While filling the PIQ form, there are sections which ask you about your achievements in different things. While some of your academic and extra-curricular records are full of achievements, some of you were probably a quiet child in school and college and thus do not have that much of achievements. Those candidates who do not have that much of achievements often feel a little conscious on seeing candidates having so many of them. They feel intimidated and become nervous as a result. The question here is, are achievements important from SSB’s point of view?
What achievements are we talking about?
If you have achievements in different aspects it certainly means you are good in that thing. It is not necessary that you should have achievements regarding studies only, or regarding sports only. You can have achievements in any field. Everybody has their own zone, and they are masters in their zone. No achievement id big or small, if you have done something small too, it is important and noticeable. Here we are talking about all kinds of achievements, it can be winning a small debate in your class or it might be a national level thing, both are equally important. However, it is highly advised that you should mention only those which you have a certificate for. You should be able to back up what you are saying, and should be in a position to answer questions related to that event.
Are they decisive in selection?
Not really. SSB is to look for Officer Like Qualities. Having achievements show that you are good and confident. So from that point of view they do cast an impact. If you have been a person who used to participate in a lot of activities and bag prizes for the same, then definitely you have the confidence to face the public, be a leader and be good in something. They certainly play a vital role in enhancing your personality. So if you look it this way, they do help you in certain way. But one thing to keep in mind is that no amount of achievement is going to help if you are not having the OLQ’s and even if you don’t have any achievement then too having OLQ’s will definitely put you through.
What if I don’t have any achievement?
As mentioned above, if you have it in you you’ll make it through, irrespective of the number of achievements. One thing I want to mention here is that everybody has potential and everybody has something in which they are good at. Identify that thing. And maybe you have certain achievements but are not sure whether to put it or not. My advice is do put it, no matter how small it is. However keep in mind that if you have a lot of achievements then mention the big one’s only, and ignore the small one’s. Everybody has a hero inside them, it’s the time that you wake that up and identify.

Can I mention it in school level special achievement. Because beside special achievement there is no special column…
Of Course you can mention it. In fact, you should mention it.
