Reading is something which is being lost somewhere in the developing era of computers. The youngsters rather prefer watching a movie instead of reading a book. Books are considered to be obsolete, boring and are associated with a lot of problems like storage space. Why they won’t be also, now when anything can be ‘googled’ in a fraction of seconds, who would like to spend time searching for answers in a book. In studies also books are replaced by online study materials, pdf’s and instant answers on google. But reading is a good habit, and it’ll only help you if you develop it.
- Improved Concentration: When you read you put in all your concentration in what you are doing, or else you’ll not be able to grasp what you are reading. Concentration is very important from SSB’s perspective as there you need to hear long instruction, which if followed will lead to success. If you read you develop concentration, which helps you in understanding things fast.
- Knowledge: Reading will certainly increase your knowledge on different things. In SSB you need deep knowledge on subjects in order to speak good points in GD, lecturette and have a healthy discussion with the Interviewing Officer. If you read your level of knowledge definitely increases, you leave a superficial level and get a deep understanding of things.
- A valuable hobby: Having a hobby is important for a person, a person with no hobby is generally dull and stressed, certainly not the trait of an officer. If you have reading as a hobby, it reflects that you are an intelligent person. You can continue this hobby when you join forces also.
- Increased imagination: Imagination is an important part in testing, as the whole psychological testing is based on imagination to a great extent. You need to see pictures, imagine stories, etc. Reading definitely helps in building this imagination power, not only that it’ll increase your writing skills also.
- Better language: As you know English is the medium of communication in SSB. Reading will help you in developing better English, it’ll help you improve the way you speak, it’ll enhance your vocabulary, polish your grammar and thus overall improve your language.
