Your communication skills play a major role in inclining your personality to the developed zone. A major part of the communication skills is your ability to interact and talk with an ease with others. If you can easily associate with others, then definitely you can influence them. Influencing is not a negative thing here, by influencing we mean, developing a good relationship. Having a good communication skill helps in developing a good relation with your team members, this will certainly help you a great deal in the group tasks. Since group tasks form a major part of the selection process hence it is in your favor if you perform well in these tasks. The first step in the process of an effective communication is striking a conversation.
- Scene 1: Railway Station: This is the place where you’ll see the maximum crowd of candidates. You find certainly difficult to decide whom to go to and talk. Repeaters might have acquaintance whom they have met in other SSB’s, but for freshers its an entirely new thing. There are parnts also accompanying to some candidates. Just take a while to look around. You’ll find somebody exactly like you, looking for somebody to talk to. Its better to be separated from your parents and get ready for an independent venture at this point of time. Simply go near a person standing alone, or to a group nearby, ask them whether they are for SSB, and you’ll see words flowing dramatically!
- Scene 2: Screening: Here it is important to build up a conversation before the screening. It is important because you are going to have a GD in next few minutes. And non-friendly GD are not very popular, not something you would like to attend. Pop up a polo, or Tic Tac, they are refreshments to be shared! Ask people around to have, then gradually say that let us have a peaceful GD inside, it’ll be beneficial for all if everybody gets a chance to speak. Of course nobody is going to follow this advice, but you have spoken, you have opened up, and you have taken the initiative, so who’s the leader?
- Scene 3: Your group: This is the easiest of all. You get a chance to live with your group after screening, probably in the same room, for days. Conversation flows. Ask about their family, education and friends. Help your group mates whenever they need you, especially in case of knowledge about something. Be considerate. Go for meals together to the mess. Help each other in preparing for the tasks. You’ll not have to think twice before getting along with your group mates. Booking out together to check out the city is helpful too.
