We have got lot of queries from candidates asking whether tattoos are allowed in Indian Army or permanent body tattoos can be a rejection in medical after SSB interview. Yes, it can create some problem for you in medicals and these are checked during medical examinations.
Official Statement on Permanent Body Tattoos
Permanent Body Tattoos: Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearm i.e. from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and candidates will be barred from further selection. Tribes with tattoos marks on the face or body as per their existing custom and traditions will be permitted on a case to case basis.

Conclusion: So if you have permanent body tattoos anywhere else on the body except permitted part, you can be in serious problem. And, if you are thinking of getting a tattoo and also want to join the Indian Army, it is better to choose the best for you.

i dnt know what all z acceptable but i hv a frn ryt nw at the AFA with an approx 2X2 inch tatto on his neck n while undergoing his Medical he ws told that tattoos r nt acceptable for MENS i.e. soldiers but in case of officers entry if the candidate doesn’t test +ve for an allergy than evrythng z acceptable…..
What if we undergo laser surgery and then appear for medicals?. will it be a permanent rejection or temporary rejection. as in if it is temporary we can get the tattoo removed .. please reply
