On Thursday 06 Sep 2012,Sachin Pilot became the first union minister to be commissioned as a regular officer in the territorial Indian Army. The ceremony held in New Delhi in South Block, Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh and Sachin’s mother Rama Pilot pipped ranks of Lieutenant, he joined 124 TA Battalion of the Sikh Regiment.

Regular Procedures he followed to Join TA:
- Qualified written test for TA.
- Cleared SSB at Allahabad SSB Board.
Mandatory Training He will go through :
- 3 months in TA Academy at Devlali.
- 3 months in IMA Dehradun.
He has a strong defence background with father Squadron Leader Rajesh Pilot who was a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force (IAF) and his grandfather served the Indian Army as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO).
He has joined the territorial army as a regular TA entry which is different from honorary rank given to Kapil Dev, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and actor Mohan Lal as Honorary Lieutenant Colonels.
What a great achievements in Indian History……Definetly a best example set by Lieutenant Sachin Pilot not for those who are young aspirants but those who are from Army Background.

sir, i just want to confirm where he cleared his ssb interview, bcoz i was with him in banglore ssb on july 15. i was there for ssc(t)-39 interview,he attended 17 ssb.
I guess he has given many attempts in SSB before. Could you Please check that and let us know. It would be very helpful to the army aspirants like me.

Can any body else also give test for TA till the age for 40 yrs. And what are the minimum qualifications??
sir but TA is not a permanent commission not even short service so how he can be a regular officer???????????????????
Please mind, regular officer in TA, he has to go through 6 months training and after that he has to provide 2 months service each year.
