At a stirring ceremony held at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala here today, Two Short Service Commission – Pilot cadets of the Indian Navy were bid farewell, on successful completion of their training.
The Deputy Commandant, Rear Admiral MD Suresh, NM, presided over the ceremony and exhorted cadets to be professionals, seeking to excel in all the endeavors in their naval career. An oath of allegiance was administered to the cadets followed by the ‘Shipping of Stripes’ ceremony. The Deputy Commandant, Senior Officers and the proud instructors fixed the naval epaulettes, popularly known as ‘Stripes’, on the shoulders of the trainee officers, symbolizing their transformation from ‘cadets’ into full-fledged Naval officers. On completion of the training at INA, the officers will now proceed to School For Naval Aviation (SFNA) at Kochi, prior to proceeding for their full-fledged flying training.
