I have heard many candidates in SSB saying that the board is partial towards the Fauji brats. They always take in those having their parents in defence at high positions. Candidates complain that while filling the PIQ form only the Fauji brats are asked to explicitly mention the ranks of their parents if they are in defence. Through this article, I aim to clear this myth out of your mind, by giving some substantial reasons. It is quite natural to love the organization you work for, for so many years.
It is also not surprising to have a soft corner for those who have worked for the same organization. You would have felt an instant connection with the people of your school, college, or city when you see them outside somewhere. The selection board has a duty above favoritism.
Some of them might feel a certain soft corner for the kids with a defence background, but in the end, it is not one test that counts. There are several tests that count, and qualifying each is based on the OLQ’s which one possesses not the background. For those candidates who think bribing is possible in SSB, let me tell you, it is even more than impossible! There are defence background kids who don’t make it, so it proves well enough that OLQ’s are important not the background.
The defence background kids have a certain advantage that they have been living in that atmosphere since childhood, so it comes naturally to them. It is easy for them to pick up with the OLQ’s as they have been seeing their parents. It is also easy for them to know about the forces, as again they have been living in that atmosphere for so long. As far as mentioning the rank in the PIQ goes, it is because the board wants to ensure that there is no kith or kiln of the candidate working in the board currently, as is mentioned in the call letter as a rule. In fact it is more difficult for the Fauji kids in SSB.
This is so because the expectation level from them automatically rises. If they are from defence background, then it is expected out of them to know certain things and stick to a very near to perfect behavior. Since they have been living in the Fauji atmosphere. The level of knowledge expected from them about the forces is high too. So to conclude I would like to say that the Fauji brats have no additional or added advantage, in fact, they have a disadvantage, because they have to perform up to a certain expected level.

rightly said tashi.
True,if u r a fauji brat things which r already expected from u r good communication skills, discipline, knowledge about army, that is normal but what they r looking is u have to have something special except these, something which makes u stand out of the rest on the other hand if a person is civilian these things like communication skills and knowledge about arms, behaviour is already an advantage nothing unique or special required.
are yr ,,,why other ppl are jealous…….dont u know what our(foji brats) PI is like…we must have to know about all the ranks, commands, guns, tanks, aircrafts…and one more thing we actually lived in 4-5 different places(upto the age of ssb)so,they expects that we must have the knowledge of all of them,AND the reasons why foji brats are selected(only who have IT in them) is mentioned obove in the article.
