Indian Army Dental Corps Recruitment Notification 2018. Applications are invited from Indian citizens, both male and female, for grant of Short Service Commission in the Army Dental Corps. Applications are invited from Indian citizens both male and female, who have passed their final BDS examination & completed a compulsory rotatory internship, for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Army Dental Corps.

VACANCIES: A total of 34 (Thirty-Four) vacancies are available for the grant of SSC to desirous civilian Dental Surgeons.

QUALIFICATION: Candidates must be BDS/MDS (with minimum 55% marks in final year BDS) from a College/University recognized by Dental Council of India (DCI). He/she should have completed one-year compulsory rotatory Internship mandated/recognized by DCI by 31 Mar 2018 and must be in possession of Permanent Dental Registration Certificate of State Dental Council/DCI valid at least up to 31 Dec 2018.

Note: Only those candidates (BDS/MDS) who have appeared in the National Eligibility-cum Entrance Test, NEET (MDS)-2018 conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi, under the aegis of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, on 07 Jan 2018, at various examination centers of NBE, are eligible to apply. Candidates must submit the copy of Mark-sheet / Score card of NEET (MDS)-2018 along with the application.

AGE LIMIT: The candidate must not have attained 45 yrs of age as on 31 Dec 2018.

Army Dental Corp SELECTION PROCEDURE

Selection procedure shall be as follows: –

(a) Screening for Calling for Interview: Candidates for interview are shortlisted on the basis of the marks scored in the National Eligibility-cum- Entrance Test, NEET (MDS)-2018 conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi, under the aegis of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The list formulated will be utilized for screening of candidates in the ratio of 1:10 to be called for interview, i.e. for each advertised vacancy ten candidates will be called for interview.

(b) Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called to appear for interview before a duly constituted Selection Board, at New Delhi to assess their suitability & merit for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Army Dental Corps. The final merit list for Grant of SSC for all candidates who have appeared for the interview will be based on the performance in the interview alone. The candidates who qualify in the interview will be subjected to Medical Examination.

(c) Medical Examination: All the candidates who are provisionally placed on the merit list will have to undergo a detailed medical examination for ascertaining their medical fitness. The decision of the Medical Board will be final.

Eligibility

  1. Candidates must be BDS (with minimum 55% marks in final year)/MDS from a College/University recognized by Dental Council of India (DCI). 
  2. Should have completed one year rotatory Internship recognized by DCI by 31 Oct 2012.
  3. Should be in possession of Permanent Dental Registration Certificate valid at least upto 31 Dec 2012. 
  4. Should be less than 45 years of age as on 31 Dec 2012.
  5. Should be medically fit in all respects for service in the Armed Forces. 
 
 

Selection Procedure

    • Short-listing for interview:  BDS candidates found eligible will be short-listed based on their Final BDS marks and attempts taken in Final BDS.  Short-listed candidates will be called for interview. All MDS candidates found eligible & in possession of MDS degree will be called for interview. There will be no short-listing in their case.
    • Medical Examination:  Candidates provisionally placed on merit list after interview by Selection Board will be brought  before a Medical Board for ascertaining their Medical Fitness.

  • Candidates should apply to the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS/DENTAL), Room No.12, ‘L’ Block, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi – 110001, on a separate plain paper giving particulars in the application form as per attached specimen format, so as to reach by 31 Oct 2012.  Candidates who have applied earlier may also apply if they fulfill the eligibility criteria.
  • This Directorate General reserves the right to reject any application without assigning any reason.

Psychological test plays a vital role in SSB interview. Most of the candidates are unable to clear this test during their psychological testing in the SSB interview. It is a battery of tests like TAT, WAT, SRT, and self-description test. All tests are important and candidates are suggested to follow some dos and don’ts for all psychological tests like PPDT, TAT, WAT, SRT.

Do’s in all Psychological Tests

  • Listen and adhere to the instructions carefully and properly.
  • Clarify all doubts you have before the commencement of each test.
  • Be as imaginative and spontaneous as possible.
  • Give your first reactions to the stimulus shown to you. Don’t think twice as there is no right and no wrong answers to the situations and everyone is likely to respond in his own unique ways.
  •  Write your responses clearly, in a simple language.
  • While writing responses your ideas must revolve around the situations or stimulus given to you.
  • Be realistic and logical in your responses.
  • Be attentive and alert and keep a track of time.

SSB Medical Tests And Examination For The Army, Navy And Air Force

After the SSB results are declared, the candidates who are recommended have to appear before the medical board, where the medical tests and examinations are conducted. The Military Hospital, related to the Army, Navy or Air Force, usually takes about four or five days for completing the process and the candidates are then allowed to leave. In case of candidates appearing for NDA, they are tested by both the Army and Navy and their fitness status is then endorsed.
Candidates are also allowed to make an appeal regarding the results of the medical examination.A review can be arranged through the guidance of the President of the medical board, according to the medical board procedures. This is in case of appeals for review in case of candidates who have been declared unfit after the medical tests.After the SSB results have been declared, the candidates will have to remain in the Selection centers and they will be provided with new chest numbers for this. They need to maintain proper discipline during the conduct of the medical examination.

The board conducting the medical test consists of male and female doctors and gynecologists and specialists. In case of women candidates, a lady medical officer is present and the entire proceedings are confidential. The aim of the test is to find out if there are any disabilities that could manifest in the future, apart from any current problems. Tests conducted are in the form of blood tests, urine tests, and check up of the eye, ear, throat, nose and an entire external check up. The heart and BMI check up is also done along with urine and dental check up. The blood test identifies transferable diseases and any potential in this regard. Eye check up is done to overrule myopia. In case of IAF, the distant vision must be 6/6 without glasses and for Army and Navy the distant vision must be 6/6, either with glasses or without. The standard for color vision is CP-3 and the candidate must be able to recognize the colors red and green. Myopia should e within 3.5D and this includes Astigmatism.


Physical fitness is a must with the candidates having a height of 157.5 cm at the minimum. In case of the Air Force, the minimum height is 162.5 cm or according to the standard chart of age-height-weight ratio. A minimum height of 5 cms less than this is allowed for Gorkhas and for applicants from the North eastern region. The minimum height for women is 142 cms and weight is 36 kgs at the least. The weight is also checked out at the medical examination. The correct weight is identified according to the standard chart of height, weight and age of the candidate. In case of a boy of 18 years, the minimum weight is 44 kgs with a height of 142.5 cm. In case of a boy of 22 years, the ideal weight should be 55 kg with 173 cms height.

The chest should be well developed and x ray of the chest is compulsorily done. The candidate should not have any bones or joints diseases or any past history of any mental disease, fits and so on. The hearing is also checked and it should be normal. The candidate should be able to hear what is known as a forced whisper from a 610 cms distance under quiet conditions. Tests are done to detect any functional r organic illness of blood vessels and heart and to check whether the blood pressure is normal. There should be no enlargement of liver of spleen. In case of hernia and piles that has not yet been operated, the candidate will be declared as unfit. The urine is checked for any abnormalities, and in case of such abnormalities, the candidate can be rejected. No skin disease is accepted. Dental check up stipulates 14 dental points in case of 32 teeth. Candidates suffering from severe Pyorrhea will be rejected.

It is advisable for candidates who are to appear for the medical test to maintain themselves in good physical condition by regular jogging, sprints, skipping and doing pushups, sit-ups and chin-ups. It is also important to known swimming, as the training Academy will teach them in any case.
