Anurag Singh Recommended In Air force NDA 129

I was in my college (Delhi university), enjoying, when I received my call letter,  it was Allahabad. I had to report on 25 September, anyway,  I reached Allahabad through Brahmaputra express. In my compartment, one other candidate was sitting. I didn’t introduce to him but it was fortune that we were going to be good friends. I reached Allahabad, 128 candidates arrived and divided in two groups- 62(18ssb) 66(14ssb). This time I was in mood of fun so there were a lot of new friends, a lot of backch##di. My chest no was 51(18ssb). I thought it was lucky as 5+1=6(Lebron james jersey no.)

    DAY-1 Screening Test

Started the day early, didn’t take bath, and wore formals. Intelligence test were easy and gud.  My picture perception and narration was awesome but discussion didn’t went well. So I was hoping of getting screened out. I called my friend for online return ticket, but wait, results were announced. I was screened in. I was amazed and seriously felt happy, not of the fact of getting screened in but for spending 5 days with great friends.
I tore the online ticket, new chest no. 18(8+1=9) again felt lucky (Rajon Rondo), played basketball with other candidates in evening full backch##di at night.

    DAY-2 Psychology Test

Same early start, psychology tests went very well, completed my SRT’s entire well before time, WAT was also great, TAT was natural for me.  The day would had went awesome but the INTERVIEW happened. I had to report at 1730 hours, but it started at 2000 hours. In the waiting room had a best time of ssb,  so many non veg jokes, sharing of girlfriend experience, we all laughed very hard. It was due to this time that I was smiling while entering the IO room
    THE INTERVIEW
    “sir may I come in”
IO- yes Aanurag please come and sit down.
    Me-thank you sir.
IO- so where are u coming from?
SHIT I stammered, I then collected myself, remembered my awesome friends started giving answers with a smile. Ther was a lot of confusion between me and IO over one topic. Anyway my interview lasted 40 mins. I was not satisfied with my interview, when I was leaving, IO offered for a handshake. I was surprised.
Left the room, cursed myself the whole way to candidate line that I didn’t prepare.

    DAY-3 Personal Interview

Felt relived in the morning due to my shit interview. I thought that I had nothing to lose after the interview so I went to GTO for fun. Group discussion started, I don’t know what happened but I was filled with energy, started all the GDs, group planning, giving ideas in PGT.
I had never spoke English for more than one minute but in lecturrete I was speaking continuously for 3 mins. Remaing GTO tasks also went well. At night I thought there is still hope.

    DAY-4 GTO Tasks

Had remaining of GTO tasks, command task was given, different situations given by GTO in the same problem. Had FGT and we were free. Watched o my god in PVR at evening. Again full bakch##di whole night.

    DAY-5 Conference Day

Conference day, the day of decision, all were excited. Entered the conference hall with smile.
    President/io- how was your stay?
me- stay was great . Had a lot of fun,  learned a lot of things( I instantly abused myself for that answer)
    IO- what have u learned?
me (thinking what to say)- sir, I wasn’t exposed to this kind of environment. Now I know my weakness and strengths (what was I saying, I said in my mind)
    IO- What is your weakness?
    me- communicational skill
IO- when u come next time for ssb, u better introspect yourself properly.
me- (fuccccccccccck I thought) ok sir
Came out of room, was disgusted. After some time got over it and started enjoying with friends in olive green, results came.
Officer said that 4 were selected. I know that I wasn’t going to get selected, so I laughed for others chance. He asked us for names, no one said my name as I told them about my conference, but the officer said CHEST NO.18 my heart was beating with speed of train.
Remembered all the things in my ssb (handshake of IO) etc.
Certainly the second best moment of my life till now.
    My tip to others
There are two methods of getting selected, either you go prepared,  or you f##kin don’t care.

Ayush Yadav Recommended In NDA-AF at 11SSB Allahabad

    12
Hello Again Everyone. I am Ayush Yadav and this time I am sharing my 2nd SSB experience of NDA at 11 SSB ALLAHABAD. I have got recommended in 2 SSBs, 10+2 TECH ENTRY NAVY  on 25 Aug’12 at NSB, Coimbatore and NDA-AF  on 22 Oct’12 at 11SSB Allahabad. Unlike my previous article, I wont go into depth of everything this time but I still hope you all will enjoy reading it.

The Beginning NDA-AF 11 SSB Allahabad

I was in high spirits after clearing my first SSB at NSB COIMBATORE but a bit nervous at the same time coz now going to the next ssb meant performing better than before in a tougher group. Though I filled up my first choice as Air Force in NDA , I was called for SSB at  Allahabad as my name appeared in the second call-up list. I went in Absentee Batch as I was down with severe viral when my regular batch was scheduled.
I reported on 17th October at 1 pm at MCO Allahabad. The SSB representatives came and led us to the army buses that took us to the SC(E) ALLAHABAD. I had already made a couple of friends by now. There around 130 candidates who had reported. We were then divided into 2 groups based on some code in our call-up letters. Our group of 60 ppl was sent to 11SSB and the other group to 19SSB board.

    Screening Test 11 SSB Allahabad:

The next day i.e. 18th October the screening tests began quite early. I did well in the intelligence tests. In the PPDT, the picture shown to us had 3 characters involved in some conversation. I wrote a story on ragging where a newly joined college student is reporting the issue to the college authorities. Others wrote on some environment issue and related topics. In GD, everyone got a chance to speak since all were repeaters and after giving some valid arguments the group soon agreed on the common story.
The results were declared at around 1:30. 30 candidates were screened in .I was Chest No.3.
We were given PIQ forms to fill up .While we were filling our forms chest no. 1 to 10 were called for interview and we had to rush for the interview waiting hall where we completed the piq .We then discussed some recent events and about air force. I discovered there were 8 conference out candidates, 1 INA cadet and Me. Everyone seemed a li’l nervous as we were not expecting the interview.  Soon  Chest No.1  was called up for interview and we were amazed to find that his interview ended up in 8 minutes. The same happened with No.2 .We were being interviewed by the board president of 11ssb.Then it was my turn for interview.

    11 SSB Allahabad Personal Interview:

I went into the room ,wished the IO and then sat on the chair when he asked me to sit. First question that I was asked was about my city, Gwalior. I answered impressively as I already read a few interesting things on Wikipedia. Then the IO asked me about my previous ssb. After I finished up, he said to me , “Don’t think that you will be given some sort of a preference here because you were recommended earlier. Its a totally fresh interaction. “ I replied with a confident yes and I know it sir (and the statement is true. You got to give your best in every  SSB. One of my friend who was recommended with me earlier was unluckily conference out in another ssb at Bangalore. Then he asked me about my education, about my parents, friends. He also asked some questions related to info given by me in piq and about previous ssb. Then he said he’ll sum up quickly and asked me about CMs  of  Indian states and some other gk questions. This way my interview ended.

    11 SSB Psychology Test:

The next day was Psych testing. It did well in all the tests and it was better than what I did previously at Coimbatore. After the testing got over , we headed to roam around the city. Some other guys spent time at the cyber cafe and cafeteria inside the SC(E) premises.

    11 SSB Allahabad GTO Tasks:

Day 3 was GTO series and this time it was a very very memorable experience for a few reasons.Since the entire group from chest no. 1 to 10 was familiar to the testing procedure , I was a bit nervous. Our GTO was the  ‘Badman ‘ there as we had heard from quite a few people that he is very strict and abuses  every now and then. And it really turned out to be so.The moment he came he chided all those guys in the typical officers way  who were not shaved properly and were not wearing proper white shoes. He then took us to the  testing room for GD. The entire group wanted to speak every now and then and I hardly spoke for some 3 times in each GD. Next was GPE, where I asked my group to listen to my plan and there were many points to which many members agreed.

Next we had to do the Snake Race with 3 other groups. We did well as a group and won the race.
In the PGT, the entire group was split up and no one cooperated. I had workable plans and I had to work very hard to convince my group to try my approach .The GTO shouted at us every now and then .
In the HGT we performed better  and there was no confusion as such.

The next was lecturette. I spoke on the  easiest of the 4 topics on my card maintaining a good body language and  a confident voice for 3 mins. We were given a break and we thought the day’s testing was done but it wasn’t so .While all other groups headed back our GTO took us for Individual Obstacles. When my turn came I started off quickly from no.10  obstacle .AfTER having done 5 obstacles, while crossing the double ditch,  I fell into the second ditch very badly due to lack of grip on ground.I got out of it quickly and realized one of my shoes  came off and right leg was bleeding real bad. Without wasting much time I  took the other shoe off as well and then headed to other obstacles. I then also did the double ditch in the end and thus did 10  obstacles in 3mins. Thanks to the adrenaline rush that gave me so much of JOSH. After I ended up , I could feel the pain and was struggling to walk.(This hasn’t healed up even today when I am writing this article) .Thus the day ended. I got the temporary medication done  and went back to barracks.

The next morning we went for the left over gto tasks i.e. Command tasks and FGT.
I was struggling with my leg but managed to jog when others called me in command task.
When my turn came for command task , the GTO appeared to be frank and asked me some general questions. He then explained me about the task I had to do .It was a red circle having 3 approaches and I had to bring back a box from the centre of the circle and material I had was a plank and 2 logs but no ropes. I called no.1 and 2 for help. After having a quick look at all the 3 approaches I tried out the first one and it worked. I felt relieved.
In the FGT , again the group was split but we managed to do it .I felt we could have done way better as a group. Thus the testing was over.GTO de-briefed us and wished us luck in his own style. The later part of the day was quite memorable as we enjoyed the afternoon playing volleyball and later on table tennis which we played all the time. I interacted with many people since I made a lot of friends. All the candidates watched Agneepath in the Ante room at night and danced on the song Sheela. (LOL..surely One of the best memories of ssb 😛 )
We went off to sleep  late at night with fingers crossed for the conference. The next morning everyone was dressed up in their best dresses for the conference.

Day Of Conference 11 SSB Allahabad:

Conference started from chest no. 30 and so I was among the last few to go into the conference hall.
While waiting for their  turns in waiting hall, everyone seemed a little nervous but I was more involved watching movie Zombieland on the tv.
ssb medical candidate Ayush Yadav Airforce
Finally my turn came, I took a deep breath and entered the hall with a smile. Wished the Board President who was my IO also. He asked me about my stay and also how it was different from my stay at NSB, Coimbatore. I answered confidently and then I was asked to leave.
After all finished up, we were instructed to sit in the Hall where the results were to be declared. After waiting anxiously, finally the results were declared. The officer first told that only 5 people have been recommended and that he would call out chest nos. in random order. My heart throbbed like never before. Finally, No.3 was called out on the fourth number.  I was overjoyed. It was an awesome feeling. The officer then shook hands with all 5 of us and wished us good luck. I went out and met with many friends who didn’t get recommended and wished them luck.

After filling up the documents we were given a break and then asked to assemble back in the evening with the luggage as we had to then go to 4AFSB, Varanasi for PABT since all of us had IAF as the first choice. We reached there at 3:30 A.m. after a tiring journey and then gave the PABT tests  after a short nap at 7 a.m. All of us cleared the PABT. After having the lunch at AFSB , we were given some documents containing our medicals date at AFCME ,New Delhi. I then headed back home.
This was a happy ending to a great SSB experience.
