Armed Forces Medical Services Recruitment AFMC Notification 2019: Indian Army Navy Airforce Doctor Notification 2019. Join the Armed Forces Medical Services as short service commissioned officer. Applications are invited from Indian citizens both male and female, who have passed their final MBBS examination in the first or second attempt and completed the internship, for grant of Short Service Commission in the Armed Forces Medical Services. Applicants who have taken more than two chances in final MBBS (Part I & II) Examination are ineligible and hence need not apply for the same. Applications are invited from Indian citizens both male and female, who have passed their final MBBS (Part-I & II) examination in not more than two attempts and a completed internship on or before 31 May 2019.

QUALIFICATION: The applicant must possess medical qualification included in First/Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule of IMC Act 1956. The applicant must have permanent registration from any State Medical Council/MCI. Postgraduate degree/diploma holders recognized by the State Medical Council/MCI/NBE can also apply.

VACANCY: 150 Approx (135 for male + 15 for female)

Note: Only those candidates who have completed/completing their internship on or before 31 May 2019.

AGE LIMIT: The candidate must not have attained 45 years of age as on 31 Dec 2019.

After filling all the details submit the application, save the application after submission and before taking printout, you will not be able to generate the application form again if you do not save it .
Get two copies of the application printout. One copy of print out application duly signed and affixed photograph attested by Gazzetted Officer there on and attested copies of 10th Class Certificate, 12th Class certificate alongwith Degree/Provisional Degree of B.E/B.Techor marksheet of eight semesters of B.E/B.Tech are to be forwarded to “Additional Directorate General of Recruiting (Rtg-6), TGC Section, West Block-III, RK Puram, New Delh-110066.” Forwarding these applications the words “Online application for 41st SSC (Tech) Men/12th SSC (Tech) Women and the Roll No.……….. “ must be written boldly outside the envelope.
The second copy of the printout of online application form and all the above certificates in original along with two attested photocopies are to be carried out to the Selection Center by the candidate.

There are various modes of joining Indian defence i.e. Army, Air Force and Navy. One has to go through SSB interview to joining Indian defence in officer’s category. You may get direct SSB interview call or you may have to clear a written test first.

Direct SSB Interview Entry Types:- Without any written test

TES (Technical Entry Scheme ):

For 12th standard candidates, based on their aggregate percentage in Physics, Chemistry and Maths [PCM].
For Army and Navy only.
Only for male candidates.
Cut off 75-85%

TGC- Technical Graduate Course:

For technical engineering graduates B.E and B.tech ( subject to eligibility of a particular stream)
Only for male candidates.
Cut off 62 -65%.

SSC-tech:

For technical engineering graduates B.E and B.tech ( subject to eligibility of a particular stream)
Both for male and female candidates.
Cut off 62 -65%.

UES- Army: University Entry Scheme:

For Final year engineering graduates (BE and Btech)
May contain few initial screening rounds in campus.

NCC-34th Special entry Oct 2013 applications are invited from Unmarried/Married male and Unmarried female and also from the Wards of Battle Causalities of Army Personnel, for grant of Short Service Commission in the Indian Army.

Eligibility Condition:

Age Limit: For NCC candidates (including w ards of Battle Casualities)19 to 25 years(born not earlier than 02 Jul 88 and not later than 01 Jul 94).
Educational Qualification:

NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders: Degree of a recognized University or equivalent with aggregate of minimum 50% marks taking into account marks of all the years. (ab) Those studying in third year are also allowed to apply provided they have secured minimum 50% aggregate marks in the first two years. Such students will need to secure overall aggregate of minimum 50% marks if selected in interview failing which their candidature will be cancelled. The candidate must posses graduation degree at the time of joining training at OTA. The candidates studying in the third year of graduation should be able to produce the degree within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at OTA. Such candidate will be inducted for training at OTA on additional bond basis for recovery of the cost of training as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay and allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite degree certificate. Should have served for minimum two academic years in the senior Division/ Wing of N.C.C.Should have obtained minimum of ‘B’ Grade in ‘C’ Certificate Exam of NCC.
Ward Of Battle Casualties Of Army Personnel:Degree of a recognized University or equivalent with aggregate of minimum 50% marks taking into account marks. NCC ‘C’ certificate not required.

Selection Procedure:

All applications as per format given are to be forwarded to Rtg. Directorate (NCC Entry) through HQ DG NCC. The NCC Units/Gp HQs will forward the applications to State Directorates who in turn will forward the same to HQ DG NCC.
Thorough screening/Shortlisting of applications based on qualifications of the candidates will be carried out by the NCC Directorates and HQ DG NCC.
Candidates not in receipt of call letter from any of the Selection Centers for SSB interview should presume that either their applications have been received after due date or have been found ineligible or rejected during short- listing. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained. Candidates after shortlisting will be detailed for SSB interview by Directorate General of Recruiting. The decision of Headquarter DG NCC and Dte Gen Rtg in Army HQ, in the matter of Shortlisting and forwarding of applications to SSBs will be final
On arrival at the Selection Center the candidates will be administered stage-I of the two stages testing procedure. Candidates failing in stage-I wi ll be Sent back on the same day and those who qualify will be detained to undergo Group Tests. Psychological Tests and Interview which will extend for a duration of 5 days.
Candidates recommended by SSBs will be required to go through Medical Exam. Candidates who are found medically fit will be placed in order of merit as per the marks obtained in SSB interview among the recommended candidates. Boarding and lodging during interviews at SSBs are free. Recommendation by SSB confers no right of admission to the Officers Training Academy. The final selection will be made as per the order of merit subject to medical fitness and suitability in all other respects and number of vacancies available.
The merit list of the recommended candidates will be displayed at the reception of DG Recruiting and Indian Army website i.e. www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.

How To Apply:

Apply on plain paper as per the format given in the advertisement, duly typed.
Applications should be posted to the nearest OC, NCC Unit from where NCC ‘C’ certificate has been issued.
Applications of Candidates serving in the Armed Forces duly counter-signed by Commanding Officer should be sent to the OC, NCC Unit from where NCC’ ‘C’ certificate has been issued.
All NCC Units will forward the applications to DDG, NCC of the concerned State, Directorate General of Recruiting (Rtg 6), Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army), reserves the right to shortlist applications on the basis of grade obtained by the candidates in NCC ‘C’ certificate examination/percentage of marks in degree examinations.
DDG, NCC States will process all applications and forward them to Dte Gen NCC. Special emphasis will be laid on the following points: -(i) Check date of birth from class X Certificate, (ii) Check Degree/Provisional degree is from a University recognised by AIU. (iii) Check marks sheets of all years and ensure that candidate has minimum 50% marks in the aggregate for all three years and in case of third year students 50% marks in aggregate for two years. (iv) Check NCC ‘C’ Certificate with minimum ‘B’ Grading.

I reached Mysore a day in advance as the process was starting early in the morning next day. I prepared myself for the Psychological tests, practiced some WAT, SRTS and rehearsed the self description which I prepared beforehand. In evening I went out to see some nearby places and reached Mysore palace. A large crowd has gathered there for Candle light protest against the recent rape incident. I joined those college people and distributed candles to other people who came there. For once, I questioned myself that what is the use of all this, once the incident has happened, I sat there for some time and starting thinking on it. I found out that people who have been gathered there were themselves grief-stricken, disappointed and angry; they were there to share and exhibit their grief. I thought of, why people from neighborhood gather when somebody dies even knowing that the dead will not come back, its only because they just want to share the grief with the family. I thought of persons present there as a brother and sisters of the brave Nirbhaya (Rape victim).

I came back to my room and watched some songs on MTV and after that practiced few WAT and revised my self description. I thought of the stories I have encountered in my earlier attempts and decided that I will write as per the picture shown and will not carry any pre conceived story.

Next Morning I reached Railway station and and all those present there were taken to AFSB.

SCREENING TEST:

Verbal & Non Verbal tests: 2 set of 45 questions each, Time given: 20 Minutes for each test.

*Questions were mostly related to cubes. I will suggest that one should not waste time on a difficult problem and must move onto the next problem as many problems were easy and some of them are hard. Attempt all questions as there is no negative marking.

PPDT:

My story: Wrote about a PhD scholar from NIT Trichy who thought of some unique business idea, took help of his professor to work upon it, presented it to investors and finally implemented that idea in a start up company with the help of his friends from IT industry. On the day of inauguration of company he was remembering the Professor who helped him in his Endeavour.

Suggestions:

Correct Perception is very important. Study the picture carefully. Don’t write any pre-prepared story; rather write it according to the picture shown. Age, Mood and number of characters should be correctly perceived and it’s not necessary to show the mood of the central character positive always ,rather most of the pictures shows the character in negative mood, you can start the story with negative mood of character but must also write how the character fought or put efforts to change the situation.

Story:what led to the situation(background) : complete it in only 1 or 2 lines, focus on the middle part(i.e- what actions the character have taken to fought or deal with the situation depicted or created by you) , for ending one simple line is sufficient. Don’t reward your character heavily.

Discussion: Don’t lose your cool , maintain a continuous smile on your face even if the situation is worse there(like fish market or chaos). Don’t shout when everybody is shouting, you will also become one of troublemakers. Wait for your chance, be calm from inside, and don’t make awkward, hastily hand movements while speaking. Add to the good points of others. Don’t bring unpleasant facial expressions on your face if you are not getting a chance. Believe in yourself that you have done well in other tests which will take you further. But try to participate if possible but not forcibly or by shouting when everybody is shouting. Don’t interrupt others and listen to others, after some time group always converges towards some common story, try adding to that story rather than again giving some inputs about some other story or your story.

Out of 300, 70 people got selected for the stage 2(Further 4 day stay)

Stage 2

Psychological tests:

TAT: Simple yet strong stories.

Correct perception with correct apperception is important.

Perception: identifying what is shown in the story.

Apperception: what actions your character has taken in the story. These actions should reflect qualities of an upright, resourceful, socially well adjusted individual. The end and start –make it short and simple, don’t waste much time there rather focus on the central part (what actions are taken by your character to dispose of the situation). Take help of your family, friends teachers and society to counter situations built by you or shown in picture.

Don’t write lengthy stories, short and strong without any cutting is the best one.

WAT:

I wrote mostly informational and observational sentences. Practice for this exam beforehand as WAT always acts like a buffer, it push you if you have not done well in TAT. But TAT is always the most important one.

The psychologist draws your personality picture by studying your responses in TAT and WAT. He confirms your personality traits in SRT and Self description.

How I Prepared: I collected words from SSB books and through various blogs on SSB, online. I wrote those words in a word document and started thinking of my first thought on those words, I altered or modified my first thought as per the requirements of TEST. By this way you can practice for your natural responses and can make them suitable as per the requirement of assessor.

Sentences should not be too lengthy , it must not be preachings or proverbs. Try to include sentences matching to your personality like sentences associated with your hobbies and interests.

Convey information or write observational sentences but these observation must be little unique and should not be very simple.

e.g: Sentence: TEA

1. Tea is hot – Unacceptable

2. Green tea is good for health – Acceptable

3. Assam is the largest producer of tea in india – Acceptable

Sentence: Elder

Respect your elders – Unacceptable/preaching
Elders are respectable – Ok
The current generation take less efforts in respecting their elders – Strong/Acceptable

Sentence: Adventure

Adventure is fun – Un acceptable
The recent jump of felix from stratosphere is extreme adventure sports – Acceptable
Carrer in Defence provide opportunities to persue adventure. – Acceptable

Sentence: Girl

Girls are lovely/sweet – Unacceptable
Girls are equally competent as boys – Strong , A boxing punch to psychologist. 😛

Situation Reaction Test:

To solve any SRT here are some instructions—

This is an SRT—

His captain was injured before a crucial match, he was asked to lead the team? He. . … … … … … … … ..

First see what is possitiveto do,whether to lead the team or to hand over the responsibility to others. Possitive is to lead the team.

Now you should look for three factors in an SRT–

1) Whether the SRT is checking for COMMON SENSE?

2) Whether the SRT is checking for MATURITY?

3) Whether the SRT is checking for REASONING?

Now maturity says that if you are asked for any responsibilty, you must grab it. so the response will be—

He’ll lead the team,will form strategies, motivate his team mates and will win the match.

This will be the simple one line answer for this SRT.. Now try to appraoch every SRT by this way. Your 90% SRTs will be at a correct path.

Self Discription:

You have to write that what your family ,friends,teachers and you yourself think about you.

Preparation: write in paragraphs, think over your qualities and weaknesses but don’t mention them in a one straight word – like they think that I am honest, obedient,loyal etc. ,rather write why they feel so/what actions of yours make them to think so – you have to introspect and prepare a draft, go through that draft and with time make little improvements in it if you feel so.

You can Include your passions,interests and little funny things about you or your friends which will make your’s self description sound real and unique.

Don’t offer your weaknesses to psychologist as a platter in plate(Thaali me sajaake :P). Always write what efforts you are putting to counter your little or few weaknesses abd how much you have improved. List only those shortcomings which can be improved upon.

You can go through my self description but must introspect and prepare a one for you rather than copying this one. Try to match your strong points of personality with your answers in Psychology tests.

PARENTS OPINION:write as per your parental view, exhibit a strong positive relation with your parents.

TEACHERS OPINION: Teachers at my management institute share responsibilities with us at seminars, guest lectures and conclaves. They appreciate my active participation in college PR activities. They tell that my presentations are interesting and creative. Few teachers were concerned of my low attendance in their lectures as I remained on duty in other activities. PhD scholars of my department often seek my help in drafting questionnaires and carrying out surveys.- All lines reflect that a person is socially well adjusted. Mention of events make your SD more natural/real.

FRIENDS OPINION: They tell me that I am the one who enjoys life. They appreciate that I equally mange the sports, academics and extracurricular. They found me approachable as they seek my help on their projects and for financial help. They understand that I can’t concentrate for too long as I frequently push them for tea while doing group studies.-weakness exhibited but with a pinch off humour.

SELF OPINION: Introspect and prepare a draft for yourself ,you have all freedom to exhibit your all stong personality traits (but don’t mention the qualities directly, be little articulate and diplomatic in your approach) and also mention some polished confessions of your shortcomings also.

think on your own—-spend some time daily thinking about yourself—talking to your own—–Observe little things around you and appreciate the positiveness in them.

INTERVEIW:

There will always be the counter questions to check the authenticity of your answers. So its best to be firm and honest in your response. Being honest doesn’t means that you offer your weaknesses to the interviewer on a plate. Every answer of yours must have logic behind it. Answers must show maturity as per your age. Be liitle diplomatic in approach to answer about your and others weaknesses. Be smart, know yourself and your close ones deepely, have a positive mindset about everybody and never blame ,curse or talk about anbody. Show that you are happy and socially well adjusted individual. The interviewer is most interested in the social adjustment factor that’s why he cross questions most of the time about family, friends and siblings. You must speak good about all and if asked to told their bad points or weaknesess then you should be little diplomatic in approach. Your every answer must reflect that you have no conflict with others and you can get along with all kind of people very easily but never state this directly. Your eyeballs must be in left,above/down or straight while answering but should never towards right because that shows that you are formulating/framing the answers.

Prepare on the expected questions beforehand and brush up your communication skills and current affairs. Most of the repeaters find it difficult to do well in interview as they were not able to send across their thoughts in appropriate words to the interviewer. Your answers must reflect confidence, maturity and authenticity. have a natural smile on your face while answering. Handle your facial expressions while answering difficult questions, you must not appear disturbed or stressed out. Most of all, you must enjoy your interview/answers. You must feel happy if somebody is asking about you in detail. If interviewer expect detailed answers, give him that one. They generally want you to speak. Take interest in yourself and you will do well in interview.

GTO TASKS:

Enjoy each and every task. Don’t compete with others, be a team player. Don’t rush while speaking and speak only when you have really have some genuine and good points. Don’t unnecessarily think that you should initiate GD’s and GPE’s. see what group is discussing and contribute to that. If there is chaos, don’t become a part of it rather try to diffuse that but never stress out your facial expressions.

Let others to apply their ideas in Group tasks, at the same time push your ideas if you reaaly think that they are worth one to apply.

Again it’s the social adjustment factor which will drive you further rather than your individual capability in various tasks.

Some tips for group planning exercise:

c) Handover the tool to the laboratory before 6 pm

a) Time now is 4 pm.

b) We are at point Y.

c) Speed of travelling will be 40 Kmph.

e) We have a jeep.

I’ll divide my team in four groups——

Group 1- 3 ×candidates + 3× villagers + 1× jeep

Group 2- 2 ×candidates + 4× villagers + 1×tractor trolley

Group 3- 1× candidate + 1× bike

Group 4- 4× candidates + 10× villagers + 2 ×jeeps

Group 1 a) G1 will leave frm point Y at 4:10 pm and reach at destination point by 4:40 pm (Distance 20 km, time taken 30 mins)

b) Save he child frm getting sacrificed,arrest the person who is sacrificing the boy, leave d place at 4:50 pm and reach to point X by 5 pm (Distance 7km, time taken 10 mins)

Group 2 a) Now start approaching to the problems as mentioned above for every group.

Group 3 and Group 4

NOTE—– 40Kmph speed is taken because we can drive and ride any vehicle at 40 kmph speed at any kind of driving surface and it is easy to calculate the time taken for travelled distances at this speed. exmp- If u have to travel 10 kms then the time taken will be 15 mins. Because half of 10 is 5, so add 10 in 5 that will make it 15. Just calculate what is the half of travelled distance and add that half to the travelled distance,this will give you the time you’ll take to reach at destination point.

I hope this all exercise is clear to you.. In case you could not understand,do ask me. I’ll make it clear to you ok.

My CONFERENCE :

I was asked three questions:

Jagtar you are banging hard on a door which is not opening for you, what are your plans for 11^th attempt?

I said, that I have done well this time and I am pretty sure that I will break open the door this time

You are doing MBA with marketing as a major, but there is nothing which we can sell in airforce, tell me 1 thing which you can sell in airforce?

I said, you are right sir, we can sell nothing in airforce as it’s a service to the nation, but he insisted me to tell at least 1 thing,

I thought for some time and then said, that yes sir, I can sell my image. All of them smiled and finally I was asked to leave.

What worked for me this time:

A balanced performance in all 3 tests: pysch,gto and interview.

Social adjustment factor: had a good bonding with all my group mates and reflected the social adjustment factor well in Psych and interview too.

Liitle bit of preparation beforehand: Most of us repeaters know what is lacking in our attempts/efforts but we never accept our shortcomings/weaknesses so dint work upon them.

Repeaters need to analyze that on what aspects they need to focus and must put efforts to improve upon those. No body can help you in a better way than yourself as you are the one who knows the most about you. Don’t be casual in approach and prepare well in advance on those areas where you think that efforts are required from your side. Screening happens in stage-1 testing of SSB interview, screening consists of intelligence test and PPDT. Intelligence tests consist of verbal and non-verbal tests, on the other hand, PPDT know as picture perception and discussion test which includes story writing and group discussion.

Here we are talking about the different types of questions that come in intelligence test verbal ability. A few common types of intelligence tests, generally used by the Selection Boards, are illustrated hereunder:

Type of Question in Verbal Ability:

Completion of Series: In this type, a series is given in which a word, letter, a figure or digit is missing somewhere in between or at the end and the candidate is required to insert it.
- Example 1: Find the missing, 3,7,11,15,__,__ Ans: ( write it in the comment box)
Relationship of Analogy Tests: This is a mathematical type of exercise. There is certain type of relationship between two objects or ideas and bye establishing the same kind of relationship between the third and the fourth, the missing object or idea is to be provided.
- Example 1: Q1 Bird is to fly as man is to _______ Ans: (write it in the comment box)
- Example 2: Q2 Watch is to wrist as ring is to ______ Ans: (write it in the comment box)
Relationship Test: There is a certain relationship between the pairs of words.
- Example 1: Write the number of the two word which have the relationship as tailor and clothes. (1) Cobbler (2) Doctor (3) Medicine (4) Shoes Ans: (write it in the comment box)
Jumbled Spelling Test: In this type of test, jumbled spelling of common words are given. The candidate is required to think out the correct work. Sometimes a hint about the nature of the word is also provided.
- Example 1: Which choice mentions the last letter of the word rearranged from the following jumbled spelling: Q: COYEKH is an outdoor game. Options: Q,X,Y,H.
Coding and Decoding Test: In these tests, number, letters of alphabet do not stand for themselves but for some other letters, i.e., they have an artificial code value. These artificial or code values are given according to some set principle. By applying that principle the candidates can decode a coded word or number.
- Example 1: If HKTG means Fire, what does YCVGT mean ?
- Example 2: If 3=0, 4=4, 5=10, 6=18 then 7=?
Multiple Choice or Best Reason Test: In this case a question or an incomplete statement is followed by many possible alternative choices as answers and candidates are required to select the more appropriate choice that completes the statement or answers the question.
- Example 1: Delhi is famous because (a) It is very neat city (b) It is the capital of India (c) The President and PM live in it.
Same Class Test: In this type of test, a group of words is given. Some of these words belong to one particular class but one ore more words do not belong to that class.
- Example 1: Write the number of object which is different from the other objects in the following collection: (a) Teacher, (b) Professor, (c) Student, (d) Head Master, (e) Principal.
Synonym Test: In this type, pairs of words with the same meaning are given. But a certain pair of such that the meaning of the two words in the pair is not the same. Candidates are required to pick it out and write the number of that pair.
- Example 1: Write the number of the pair, the words which do not have the same type of meaning as the others. (a) Agony and Pain, (b) Danger and Risk, (c) Freedom and Bondage, (4) Integrity and Honesty.
Antonym Test: In this type some pairs of words have opposite meaning but a certain pair of a different nature. Candidates are required to pick out the same.
- Example 1: Write the number if the pair, the words of which have a relationship different from the other pairs. (a) Compulsory, Voluntary, (b) Help, Obstruction, (c) Excess, Surplus, (4) Food, Famine.
Direction Sense Test: In this type of test, the candidates are required to make use of a keen sense of direction and remember the distance covered in each direction.
- Example 1: If you start from point A and walk 4 miles towards the east, then turn left and walk 3 miles towards the north, turn left again and walk 2 miles, which choice mentions the direction in which you are going? (a) North, (b) East, (c) South, (d) West.
Common Sense Test: In these type of tests, the candidates are required to make use of their common sense only. Alternative choices for suitable or probable answer may or may not be provided in this type of test. Candidates have to draw upon their own past experience.
- Example 1: 3 years ago, Lakshmi was 5 years older than Sita. What is the difference between their ages today?
Sequence Test: In this type, one is required to concentrate on correct sequence of days of the week, months of the year, sequence of words in the dictionary or sequence of letters of alphabets, etc, etc.
- Example 1: If fifth of the month falls two days after Monday, what day of the week will precede the 19th of the month.
Blood Relationship Tests: One is required to have fair knowledge of blood relations.
- Example 1: X and Y are children of Z. Z is the father of X but Y is not the son of Z. What is Y to Z?
Jumbled Sentences Tests: In this type the words forming a sentences are jumbled up and candidates are required to rearrange these to form a sensible sentence.
- Example 1: Rearrange the following jumbled words to form sensible sentences. (a) All animals are animals but all cats are not cats.
Confusing Instructions Tests: Questions of this type are simple to solve but instruction issued are confusing. The students are required to study the questions carefully and understand in which way the answer is to be expressed.
- Example 1: If 1/2 when added to 1/4 makes 3/4. Write “wrong” unless 3/4 when divide by 1/4 makes 1/3 in which case write ‘right’
Assigning Correct Mathematical Signs: Sometimes arithmetical questions involving addition, subtraction, division and multiplication are written but arithmetical sign are omitted . Candidates are required to insert these.
- Example 1: 24_5_4=9 .
Word Building Tests: This type of test is meant to test the ability of students in word building. For example: forming new words by suffixing or prefixing new letters or taking off from or adding new letters to the body of words.
- Example 1: Think of a single letter which when prefixed to the following words forms new words: READ, RISK, OWL, RING, RIGHT.

- Example 1: Rupees – Paisa

Bottom Line:

After checking out these questions, you may think that the verbal ability test in an SSB interview is very easy, Yes it’s very easy indeed, all you need to do is time management. My reporting date was 7^th Jan 2013 6.45 @ Mysore. I started from Bangalore to Mysore at 11.55 PM,In the compartment where ever you see SSB Aspirants. The train dropped us by 4’o clock. When I was in waiting hall ,it was all SSB Aspirants. Made few friends over there.

The Air Force Bus came and picked us up by 7’o clock and we were all assembled in the Testing Hall(Total :150 Aspirants)

Initial Form fillings were done and we are given a chest number, mine was 121.

Then started the Phase-1 of testing with OIR(a set of two exams each has 40bits need to be completed in 17 mins) my suggestion start the OIR from reverse order and followed by PPDT(Picture Perception and Discussion Test).A Hazy Picture was shown and we need to write a story and it is followed by discussion from which a common story must emerge.

In our PPDT,for me it appeared like a Youngster and middle aged person-so I wrote like youngster is student and middle aged person was professor and youngster find some difficulties in his course so he approached his professor and got guidance and excelled in his course.

Then started the discussion (the most messing part). As I already screened out twice I decided firmly to make it this time, most of my team members are repeaters so I thought they will go in a cool manner, but as soon as the discussion started everything turned hot, all of them were arguing. I didn’t get any chance to speak they were not coming to any common point so finally with deep breath I said EXCUSE ME I WOULD TO LIKE SPEAK A POINT…..Finally they allowed me to speak…my point was MOST OF OUR STORIES HAS TWO PERSONS SO LETS MAKE OUR STORY WITH TWO PERSONS, that’s it again they grabbed the chance and started to quarrel finally we chose a person to narrate a common story all this happened in 3 mins for the total discussion.

Now finally it’s the results time and I am quite sure I will be screened out again..my chest number was called and along with others are asked to wait other side…then the rest of the guys was told that they were screened out and we were selected. Felt relieved that I am finally screened In and felt bad that few of my friends didn’t make it.

I didn’t have a good sleep for two days ( Travelling from Hyderabad to Bangalore and Bangalore to Mysore), thought that finally we will be relieved testing procedure was done for that day, but it was only a dream, a lot about to come the psyche tests started immediately after filling some forms….

It was hectic…then started the TAT as usual 12 pictures(11 Pictures + 1 Blank),as usual we need to write stories like PPDT,as usual make a ready made story for the blank slide. I wrote totally good stories in TAT.

Then WAT a total of sixty words, 15 secs for each need to write a sentence, could not complete all of them I nearly left 15 words blank. Then SRT where a booklet of 60 situations will be given and need to complete them,this was much worst than WAT, In this I left 24 situations blank, then the self description it was OK same questions that will be repeated again. Then its over for the day,had a fine dinner and went to our respective blocks after noting whats coming next….. 🙂

This time my chest number was 33,and they grouped from chest no 26 to 33 as team D.

The selection board scheduled everything and for our group the next day was Interview day. My Interview got scheduled @1200 Hrs. After reaching there and waited for 45 mins then some personnel came and said that interview is postponed to 1.45PM and I was requested to have my lunch. I really enjoyed the lunch, because I am not much worried about the interview. My interview started by 0200 Hrs and lasted for 45 mins. Most of the questions are related to my personal life and no different questions.

I too got the two routine question which were asked in most of the interviews i.e. State some news, state some thing u know about IAF. I was prepared for that and answered both to my best (Thanks to SSBCrack where many aspirants shared their exp. Through which I got an Idea of these two questions).

The Next Day was totally off for us we enjoyed our stay..and went to ZOO.

The next day was our GTO..First Indoor followed by Outdoor activities.

First started with Choice GD(From two we need to select One) for us the First topic was Rural development which Factors play a keen role. Factors:Education,Alternative Farming,Small Scale Industry

Our team was not concerned about the second topic all of us voted for the first one..the discussion went so cool and calm it was nice GD then again one more GD with no choice the topic was about ISRO space program the same happened with this GD also..everyone was discussing politely no arguing nothing…then GTO came into action and started opposing our points ,we didn’t give up we supported and gave points to the best of our knowledge..Then MPE(Military planning Exercise) he explained a set of 4 problems asked us to write individual plan first and then discussion and common plan must emerge..

We messed up MPE this time its hot discussion few arguments then finally GTO asked for our solution and chest no .26 rose so we decided that he will present our solution,when he finished I was not satisfied with his solution so with GTO’s permission I gave my solution which had few points from team discussions.

Then Outdoor Task PGT,HGT,Snake Race and Command Task.

Our team was so good we crossed to obstacle in PGT in just 4-5 mins then got stuck in 3 rd one. We started with correct way but a lot of ideas deviated us from easy solution then GTO suggested to go with the initial try ,we tried and successfully completed the PGT then same with HGT.

In HGT while crossing the obstacle whole team crossed and I stayed back ,now I need to cross and helping material should also cross..now we don’t have any idea how to that then suddenly I gave an idea of making bridge with rope and plank that worked we completed the HGT too..My suggestion is when team is discussing try to give ur ideas ,if there is no idea from anyone try to give one ..

Then Snake Race(The most funniest and interesting) After getting penalty of 35 secs(20sec,10secs and 5 secs) we won the race as a team…seriously with the GTO tests I had observed with good team effort we can proceed further handling anything..

Then Command Task.. I was called 5 times as subordinate because of Height weight thing,, whenever I was called I was ordered to stand on plank and balance it so that others can cross..As I called 5 times I got a chance to perform all three command task(4 people got one CT and 2 got one CT and 2 got Other CT),my CT was a table is place in center of circle I need to get out of the circle ,finished it within time…A lot of workout then we were taken to tour visited Mysore palace,Philomena church and Brindavan Gardens.

The next day the remaining GTO tasks the FGT, Lecturrete ,and Individual Obstacle Race.

We finished the FGT in the specified time and the lecturrete out of 4 topics ,one topic must be picked and we must speak for 3 mins….my topics are Reservation for women,Arab Offspring,Hijacking..

I spoke about Reservation for women. then IOR where a set 10 obstacles need to be completed in 3 mins (55 points)Obstacles are : Log jump,High Jump ,Wall jump,Balance Beam,Monkey Crawl,Tire Jump,Double Jump,Tiger Jump Rope Climbing and Burma Bridge.I completed 9 obstacles and tried for rope climbing twice and didn’t make it..with that All our GTO tasks completed..by 9.30 PM and we all got ready and reported by 10.30 at testing hall for conference.

Finally my turn to attend the conference,we were given instructions to find some flag on the table and told that all assessing officers will be present. I thought 8 to 10 will be present,when I entered the hall there are nearly 20-25 officers in uniforms it’s a Huge U shaped Table. They asked the routine question how was your stay? how is your performance? any suggestions? Thank you may leave,thats it.

Now finally everyone is waiting eagerly for results,I am confident that I will be selected but I am also praying …then finally results announced a total of 6 candidates from 67 were selected, out of 6, 3 candidates are from my team D. Felt a mixed feeling again(happiness and sadness).

Scheme of Syllabus:

The AFCAT question paper will have 100 questions. All questions will be of three marks each.
For every correct answer the candidate will get three marks and for every wrong answer one mark will be deducted under negative marking.
The total time allotted for the paper is two hours.
